China releases terror blacklist in Olympic plot
Source: Associated Press

BEIJING (AP) — Chinese police called for the extradition Tuesday of eight alleged separatists accused of plotting a campaign of terror to coincide with the Beijing Olympics — a scheme that reportedly included bomb attacks within China and in unspecified countries in the Middle East and South Asia.

A Public Security Ministry spokesman said the eight men, all Chinese citizens, were believed to have financed, incited and organized attacks during and around the Aug. 8-24 games as part of an ongoing insurgency against Chinese rule in the traditionally Muslim west.

Wu told reporters at a news briefing that the men were members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, a murky collection of extremists believed to be based across the border in lawless areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan

The eight "seriously threatened the security of the Beijing Olympic Games and China's social stability, while at the same time composing a threat to the security and stability of relevant countries and the region," Wu said.

1. They should be careful about pissing China off.
China isn't as "nice" as we are...and well on their way to being a sole superpower.

2. Their government is pure evil, and they are the world's banker.

Not the type of people I want controlling the world financially with the money from their massive trade surplus.

By the way, that was a great strategy by Clinton and the Republicans to sign over our whole economy to the Chinese, wasn't it? What a great idea it was to get a country of over a billion people and poor environmental regulations burning coal and on the path to consuming like Americans. I don't know about you guys, but I know that the Armageddon-like day of recknoning from climate change wasn't close enough for my liking. It was a great idea to up it by half a century.

4. Yes, we are.
Obviously everybody in the world should have the opportunity to raise their standard of living, but we should have waited until significant progress was made in the advancement of clean energy (which, along with a huge decrease in global population, is the key for global sustainability) before we started worrying about helping China rise. The genie is out of the bottle now, though, and there is no turning back.

8. Yeah...completely irrational.

He effectively and popularly did actually what a Republican was supposed to do. Good for the economy. Small on social issues and government.

Regardless of that he is painted as the standard for a "liberal" Democratic president.

I want a real liberal. The financial part is good but I need the real FDR Deal.

That's irrational? Blow me.

Feel free to report me. Acting like a FReep like that I'm surprised you didn't tell me to go to France while you're at it.
