SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — With an appearance here today, President Bush has now paid visits to three states within days after a Democratic presidential primary election. Now, Democrats are accusing Bush of sticking taxpayers with the costs of what is essentially a political activity: responding to the attacks from Democratic candidates that arose during those primaries.

"Bush's visits, billed as `official events' are, in reality, taxpayer-financed campaigning,'' the Democratic National Committee said in a statement.

<snip>

On Thursday, Bush traveled to Charleston, S.C., two days after a primary in that state. On Jan. 27, he went to Merrimack, N.H., also two days after a primary there.

Like South Carolina, Missouri held a primary Feb. 3.

2. This happens every four years.
Doesn't seem to matter who is in office, they have the means and Air Force One available to impress the populace and they use it.
I remember the Rethuglicans complaining about Clinton doing the same thing.

3. Yup.
Still, it's hard to fight the urge to hit him hard on every issue, even if they might be below the belt.

8. Except Clinton was roundly criticised in the media, but not Bush...
...you are right- the media used to call Clinton "The Campaigner in Chief"...

That is the difference- Clinton was called on it while "The War President" gets a free pass...

14. Speaking of Double Standards...
Remember all the attention Roger got? Neil has done some very shady shit and it is virtually ignored. Hardly anyone I work with is aware of that little scandal.

17. And Marvin, too...
You'd think Thai Hookers magically appeared at EVERYONE'S door, the way the Imperial Pravda has thrown it's blanket of Soviet Silence over the misconduct of the Imperial Princes.

15. Yes and Bush* makes Clinton look like an amateur at it.
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 02:03 PM by Bandit
Really all we need to do is dredge up all the GOP sound-bites they used against President Clinton and insert Bush* in place of Clinton. They railed for eight straight years against his fund raising so it shouldn't really be to hard to find some sound bites.

He has done this continually throughout his term. NOW someone notices? Sheesh. Is the media waking up from a long sleep? Nice to have you back... now get to work! :)

9. Clinton Schminton!
Heh! Knew that'd grab ya! :D
Why aren't folks making more angry noise about this? It wasn't that long ago that the repukes wanted a special counsel investigation of Al Gore's use of his office phone to make campaign calls.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/index/finance/ncfin117.htm

Shrub should be getting hammered on what specific government business required his presence in those particular states on those particular days. The freakin' media think it's funny, for cryin' out loud. Dumbya's got a gazillion dollars to campaign with and the SOB is doing it on our dime.

16. Preaching to the choir
A little bit about springfield, it's solidly infested with religio whack jobs. It's located in the most repuke part of the state, home of johnny crisco, with god, momma, and wild eyed flag wavers forty miles to the south in good ole branson.

He's not making any converts here, just a feeble attempt to shore up a crumbling foundation.
