NEW DELHI: At a time when many companies go for downsizing their workforce due to the financial crisis, the US-based IT services provider Computer Science Corp (CSC) said it will add 2,000 people to its India tally in next six months.

"In the next six months, we will add another 2,000 employees in India," CSC (India) president Rajendra B Vattikuti told reporters on the sidelines of a conference here.

In the next three years, we will recruit at the industry average, he added.

This addition of 2,000 employees would take the company's total workforce in India to 21,000. CSC has a total workforce of 90,000 as on July, 2008.

"The company has been immune to the global meltdown and rather it has offered more opportunities for the company to expand," CSC chief executive officer and chairman Michel W Laphen said.

Apparently, they couldn't find "skilled U.S. workers" as the myth suggests. :sarcasm:

1. Online Medical Records
That is what they believe is giving them immunity to the economic meltdown.

Hummm, isn't that what McSame keeps pushing for yesterday, which will bring down medical costs and make it affordable? Ah yes, you can have your MRI performed at a local hospital, the imaging will be electronically shipped off to India to be diagnosed, and our hospitals full of 'clerks' can hand you a printout diag. and a receipt.

Can't I just get a diagnosis from my living room via a webcam? We don't need real doctors anymore... we got the Internets.

2. Better than that
You can have a phone consultation with any number of US physicians online for a hefty fee and get meds too.

3. Hell, I don't even have to pick up a phone!
I just open my email's SPAM folder and I have hundreds of links to cheap online meds.

I'm just waiting for my grocery store to replace the gum ball machines with Vicodin dispensers in this competitive market.

4. Well, since CSC's management is among the least competent in the U.S.,
maybe this will help.

Jackasses.

6. Agreed (ex-CSCer)
Currently out of work thanks to CSC (long story...). Offshoring is the wave of the future for them, we were constantly having to justify our jobs as to why they couldn't send them to India/Kuala Lampur/etc.

8. My dearest wish for such companies is that they decide to outsource all
their executive positions, including the CEO, to low-cost foreign countries.

9. Mine, as well.
Bet all of the outsourcing would stop dead in it's tracks.
