Palestinians Mull Unilaterally Declaring State

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian leaders are considering whether to unilaterally declare a state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a response to Israeli threats of go-alone partition measures, a senior official said Monday.

The United States has discouraged previous Palestinian threats to declare a state, saying that it supports Palestinian statehood only through negotiations with Israel. Most European countries have taken a similar stance.

Israel said the announcement would do nothing to help negotiations on a U.S.-backed peace "road map."

Afterall if the UN has the legitimacy to wave a magic wand and create Israel, then it can use that same wand to create Palestine..

{b]Resistance fighter killed in Israeli raids

A Palestinian armed fighter from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades has been killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli troops in the northern West Bank town of Jenin.

Ahmad al-Mohdi, 23, was fatally wounded in the exchanges in the flashpoint town of Jenin, said security and medical sources on Monday. He was transferred to hospital where his death was confirmed.

The latest death brings the overall toll since the start of the Al-Aqsa Intifada in September 2000 to 3745, including 2802 Palestinians and 875 Israelis.

Also on Monday, two Palestinians were wounded and seven arrested in Israeli military raids on the West Bank.

wage a REAL war to obtain said independence? Can they do anything now that they haven't done already? Will the Israelis shiver in fear and retreat to the pre-1967 borders? Will the UN suddenly grow a spine? or muscles? Will President * agree and force Israel to do something?

I hypothesize that the answer to all these questions is NO. What makes the Palestinians think that braggadocio is as good as military might? What makes them think that whining will produce the results that they want? They have the most pathetic and evil leadership in the world, and yes, I include * in that.
