Brown demands petrol price cuts
Source: BBC News

Gordon Brown has called for the recent falls in the price of oil to be passed on to UK consumers.

The price of oil has plummeted - from a high of $147 a barrel for US Light Crude this summer to $82.24 at midday on Friday.

The prime minister said: "I want these price cuts passed onto the consumer, and passed on as quickly as possible."

The price of oil has been falling due to concerns that the economic slowdown will lead to a fall in global demand.

9. But 80% of that $8/gal is tax, right?

Without the massive UK taxes, Britain would have some of the cheapest gas in Europe.

It drives me nuts to hear my fellow Americans complain about $4 gas....

11. Britain does spend its tax revenues wisely....
... Americans could also have universal healthcare and public transport, if they voted for anti-war candidates.

We could easily afford these programs, using a tiny fraction of the money wasted by the Pentagon every year.

But then, people would have to start thinking at the ballot box. *sigh*

6. You would go broke using that business model
You have to charge what the NEXT delivery will cost you, or you would not be able to pay for the inventory if the price goes up.
