Palin flummoxed by question on Alaska's oil exports
Source: AP

WASHINGTON - Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, promoted by Republican presidential nominee John McCain as his expert on energy, seemed to have problems yesterday explaining whether the government bans oil and natural gas exports, especially from her own state's North Slope fields.

A questioner at a town hall-style meeting in Wisconsin said he had heard at least 75 per cent of the oil drilled in Alaska was being sold to China and said if true he would like to know why.

"No. It's not 75 per cent of our oil being exported," said Palin, suggesting some of Alaska's oil may, in fact, may be going abroad but not that much of it.

"In fact," she then added, "Congress is pretty strict on, um, export bans of oil and gas especially."

No Alaska oil has been exported since 2004, and little if any since 2000, according to the Energy Information Administration and the Congressional Research Service.

But Congress has never imposed outright bans on US oil or natural gas exports.

5. I thought we sold most of our AK oil abroad because it wasn't up to our
high standards. I think I can be excused, as a cat vet with my head full of diseases and medications and surgery techniques. She HAS no excuse.

9. She must be reading the wrong newspapers...
and lots ofem. It's a good GUESS that a country that imports 70% of it's oil doesn't do a whole lot of exporting. To quote a leading American energy expert: "Oil & coal, Of course, it's a fungible commodity and they don't flag the molecules..."

11. winky....
....it's not important that you knew a person who did bad things when you were eight, it's not important that you're supposed to be an energy expert who doesn't know an answer to an energy question....what is important is whether you're a bullshitting liar....a screechy swift-boating demagogue....

"Congress is pretty strict on, um, export bans of oil and gas especially."

....the old-man heading your ticket unfairly said of Barack, "I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed."....and you're just a sweet innocent soccer-mom....do you believe the old-man?

....day after day your shrill pathetic lies echo across my TV set....day after day your character assassinations of Barack degrade our electoral process in a time of national and international crisis....the repugs may think that you're the best thing that ever happened....I find you disgusting....

14. She must only be an energy expert with North Slpoe Oil & Gas.
Because the Swanson River and Cook Inlet gas fields(located on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska) have been selling natural gas to Japan since 1969.
Hear is an article from today.

19. I have an excuse
I don't know how much oil or gas Alaska exports, or if there's a ban, but hey, I'm not the governor of Alaska or a self proclaimed energy expert. She brags about her expertise on the subject to cover her lack of knowledge on EVERYTHING else, and doesen't know this either?

Somebody ask her a hockey rule and see if she flubs that one.
