Bush: 'I Expected to Find the Weapons'
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&ncid=703&e=2&u=/ap/20040209/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_interview

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) denied he marched America into war under false pretenses and said the U.S.-led invasion was necessary because Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) could have developed a nuclear weapon.

"I expected to find the weapons," Bush said in an Oval Office interview broadcast Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

He dismissed news reports that there is no evidence he reported for National Guard duty in Alabama during the summer and fall of 1972, during the Vietnam War. "There may be no evidence but I did report; otherwise, I wouldn't have been honorably discharged."

2. Mc Veigh and creatures like that "could" make a nuke too
So why doesn't the bush "administration" go after them? Could it be that they all share the same ideals?

3. why doesn't he just say "we went to war because i was afraid"?
well that basically is what his stated rationale was. the other guy MIGHT be armed with a REALLY SCARY weapon, we're not sure, but i'm AFRAID he might attack me so i'm gonna git him first.

FEAR. this is his excuse.

it's not the real reason, shrub knew there weren't wmds. it was all for oil and finishing poppy's war. but that wouldn't sell, so somehow they hit on the "i'm scared" rationale.

11. The excuse of cowardice is not as bad as the truth.
Even a President is allowed to fear the boogeyman.

But George took us to war because he thought he was born to be an emperor.

Because his handlers told him he could be the one to add jewels to the American crown. Because he was going to be the Augustus who created the American Empire.

He can't tell parents he killed their sons because he wanted a crown. He can't tell them that the movies he used to watch and his advisors told him it would be a piece of cake.

He can't tell them he intended to do it no matter what. No matter what.

He can't say 9/11 thrilled him because that was when he knew he would get it all.

He can't say that.

But it's true.

Better to say he was scared. Everyone is scared.

4. They Are In Serious Trouble
I really think shit is really starting to hit the fan...I can't believe some of the shit I'm seeing in Newsweek and Time...I still refuse to watch much of the TV, but if Mclaughlin this morning was any indication and if what I see in print is any indication, they are in deep shit. His interview was another bust. After the SOTU he needed something and he failed. He's defective through and throug, there's no hiding it anymore.

6. And to be "happy" with that "performance"?????
Will somebody please wake me up when we have a REAL President??? That was a sorry excuse for a live to tape interview. I was prepared to see a grandiose performance and all I got was alot of stuttering and stammering and guy struggling to get any word out of his mouth.

They must be desperate.

23. Right on the money
We've all scratched our heads and wondered where the hell dubya's popularity nombers were coming from in the nationally televised polls. I think Rove's internal sources are showing the truth and eh is getting desparate to bring Dubya up.

The desparation, however, is what scares the hell out of me.

Buckle up, this is going to be a rough ride. Can you even imagine how much these guys have at stake? Can you even imagine how far they will go to stay in power?

7. this is what happens when a man like the Dauphine Bush is allowed to
steal an election.

Never, ever again should the Democrats allow this to happen.

It should never have been allowed and should have been vigorously objected to at the start. I voted for Gore, I love him but he made an unwise decision to not take Bush to task and to staned against the black caucus. This should have NEVER been allowed and the Democrats, anyone, should have protested vigorously. As it stands, we allowed, and yes we did allow, the stupid ass Bush to take control over us all.

We did allow it. We did and now we are faced with the battle of trying to oust hin, when we have virtually given him the control of all-the congress, the judiciary and the presidency.

We must not ever let this happen again--tell your children. An evil man has somehow couped the process and it is broken. This must NEVER happen again. We have lost five hundred and thirty of our young people to this coward, this coward and this ignorant, incopetant AWOL despicable manl NEVER ever let it happen again. He needs to be taken down---bring em on.

9. We know what he expected and what he pretend to expect.
What is this so called "war on terror"? Is it something we really have
to miss "Simpsons" for? Obviously not!

I mean, look at the news these days. It has been now proven beyond
doubt, that it is Pakistan's entire military (and the current ruling
dictator Musharaf), who were responsible for blatently selling nukes
to Iran, North Korea and Libya, in exchange for billions of dollars of
oil money and ICBM missile technology (from North Korea), AND *trying*
to sell nukes to Iraq!... And the good ol' USA politicians tell us
that Pakistan's Musharaf is decent upstanding and honest little man,
but Saddam who's only terrible mistake was not to grab the nukes that
Mushaaraf was peddling around the globe in return fot other trinkets,
is a dirty incarnate of satan!!

Why? Because obviously, a lot of powerful people knew all along, that
Pakistan's sole lucrative export business, was peddling nukes! The
same nukes that China graciously gave Pakistan, under the approving
smile of the various US administrations starting from Reagan. Iraq in
the meantime, made the blunder of not spending a little money to buy
these nukes which Pakistan was so graciously offering, with a kickback
to certain sorces in "other" countries.

Let's cut all the nonsense about these nuke's being sold by "rogue
scientists". Anyone who believes that tripe, should have half the IQ
of Holmer Simpson. How does one smuggle tons of Uranium, centrifuges
and half built nukes aboard a civillian airliner? I can see the
Pakistani "rogue scientists" explaining this to customs: "Oh, that
little thing? That's just a dis-assembled toaster. You see, I just
like assembling toasters in Libya... Takes my mind off the heat..."

We all know that Pakistan created the Al'Qaeda and the Taliban, with
support from various US administrations - Initially to attack Soviet
Union, and later on, as a tool to keep Asia in particular and the
world in general under threat and instability of terrorism. We also
know that China's supply of nukes and technology to Pakistan, and
Pakistan's supply of nukes to every terrorist nation from Libya to
North Korea was least of all, even the secret of a 5-year old. Every
nation especially the US adminstrations knew this for more than 25
years. A few nations repeatedly warned USA about this... But all they
got in return, was a lot of snickering and giggling.

So here is a nation, who's very current military dictators and ruling
establishment not only built such famous terror organizations like
Al'Qaeda, Taliban, Chechnyan terrorists, Kashmiri terrorists, etc from
a large common resource pool of millions of crazed "jihadis", but also
obtained nukes from China and promptly peddled them accross the world
to every like-minded crazed dictartor. And Pakistan not only gets
praised by the Bush crew, but also gets handed about a billion dollars
of money for no apparent reason, other than the fact that Bush thinks
Musharaf "is jolly good fellow"???!!

So, we come back to this "WMD in Iraq", and this "War on terror" and
all these bells and whistles and related hysteria regarding
"terrorists" and "WMD" and "fingerprinting unwhite or unrich
foreigners and then eventually, every US citizen", and all other such
nonsense... Is it not all a big joke on the normal citizen, just so
some people can screw the taxpayer and build themselves sweet little
retirement fortunes?

And for those who still think 9/11 was the work of "Iraquis", there is
more to come:

http://www.fas.org/irp/world/pakistan/isi/punjab.html
http://www.ict.org.il/articles/articledet.cfm?articleid=99

On a side note, I thought it was rather hilarious to hear Musharaf and
the US officials thunder how that "rogue scientist" has been well and
truely punished: i.e. He has basically been asked to take his 800
million odd dollars and go home to his mansion by the beach, with his
20 wives, 50 limos and 20 cruise boats and his personal helicopter....
Yeah, that should teach him a lesson... Seeing as what the punishent
is, NO terrorist or nation will now dare to sell nukes to other
terrorists...

12. nice post and welcome to DU, hsekar73
It's funny, my whole view of politics and the world changed -- I had my "awakening" if you can call it that -- when the US didn't do squat about Pakistan after 9/11. All the research I'd done told me that Pakistan should have been invaded (if you accept that Al Queda was responsible for 9/11). When we stopped at the border, and started talking about Iraq, I smelled a rat big time.

Yes, it's very frightening how nobody's dealing with Pakistan, who seems to be exporting nukes like China's exporting toys for WalMart, and nobody seems to care.

18. Don't forget there were Planeloads of "people"
They were flown out of Afghanistan shortly after the official US invasion. Rummy and the boys pretended to "know nothing". I'm sure a few of the wanted men and probably Bin Laden escaped then to Pakistan.
I'll see if I can find the article.

WMD's, he's incredibly more stupid than we could ever possibly imagine. We just thought he was plain ol' garden variety stupid. Stand back folks. Its entirely possible that he is the absolutely stupidest shit that ever lived.

14. I hear a voice!
Why..it is Carla Fay Tucker's voice, the lady that junior put to death..
when he was governor in Texas.

Yes indeed, it is the ghost of Carla Fay Tucker's voice alright and she's mimicking junior, in a eerie low stuttering pathetic baby like whine, saying "I..I...expected to find weapons of mass destruction, I...I...I want to to stay president...I don't...don't want to be thrown...thrown out of office.
All I can hear from the ghost of the voice of Carla Fay Tucker is a wicked laughter a rather loud and insane revenge sort of laughter.

20. Yeah well I expect to find a million dollars under my pillow
Because I WANT it to be there. What's this... it's not there! *smacks forehead*

I love how he admits there's "no evidence" he reported for Guard duty. Sorry, but it's possible to be honorably discharged when you've been AWOL, especially when you have the Bush name and money behind you. My husband was in the Army for 7 yrs and has an entire file cabinet filled with paperwork and could, with little notice, prove where he was on any given date. The amusing thing is he's not PRESIDENT and never plans to run for public office - yet even he has proof of his service. I happen to personally know at least two people that had 'questionable' things happen while in the military - one was AWOL for a couple of weeks, one tested positive for drugs - yet still managed to get honorably discharged. And they weren't even rich or a member of a powerful family!
