Kerry: Bush told 'stories' about Iraqi prewar threat
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/08/elec04.prez.kerry.iraq/index.html

Democratic presidential front-runner Sen. John Kerry accused President Bush on Sunday of changing his story on U.S. intelligence about Iraq during an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press."

At a news conference in Richmond, where he was endorsed by Virginia Gov. Mark Warner, Kerry also suggested Bush is revising history on what led him to approach the United Nations before taking military action.

In a written statement, Kerry called on Bush to testify before the intelligence commission he has appointed to investigate the prewar intelligence.

"This morning on 'Meet the Press,' President Bush said that his decision to go to war with Iraq when he did was because Saddam Hussein had, quote, 'the ability to make weapons,' " Kerry told reporters at the news conference.

"This is a far cry from what the president and his administration told the American people throughout 2002. Back then, President Bush repeatedly told the American people that Saddam Hussein, quote, 'has got chemical weapons.'

1. Question: Then why did Kerry vote in favor of military action in Iraq?

3. Maybe because he believed the stories then?
the stories now exposed as lies. Political expediency is more likely an answer but the Bush lies covers it for those who still had some shred of trust in GWB.

5. What is good about having a candidate
is that he will be the spokesperson for the party and can respond to Bush's bull. Every time Bush opens his mouth, or Rummy, or Cheney, Kerry should punch back. This is exactly what is needed.

7. Many soldiers and Iraqis DIED because of a phantom possibility of
making weapons?....This should be pointed out over and over by Democrats...whenever they get near a microphone.

9. Would pre-emptive war based on such contention be in violation of
our Constitution and the UN Charter, would it be war crimes?

8. OK, Kerry, I was a Dean backer.....
so if you want to gain my support now you better give it to Bush with both barrels. You have a lot of us to win over. Of course, you'll get my vote - at this point a snake would get my vote over Bush - but I want to feel good about the vote I'm giving you.

10. Saddam fooled us all!
I thought that Saddam had WMD...I knew that he had used them on the Kurds, and I was freaked at the idea that they would be used on our troops. When I realized that Saddam wasn't going to use them on US...I knew he had none...it was a no-brainer, that and the fact that I never for a moment believed that Saddam was involved with AQ.

Kerry has over twenty three years in the Senate...you can bet your bippy that the Bu'shists are trolling through every minute of that time looking for negative ammunition against him...and they are bound to find it...the man is a POLITICIAN, for God's sake...they're all flaky.

That's why I still think Clark is the one who could beat Bush...not only does he have the smarts...Bush isn't going to want to bring up anyone's military record, so any "negatives" in Clark's past would be avoided like the plague.

God knows I want rid of Bush...but I don't think Kerry can do it.

11. Glad Kerry pointed out that
It has gone from possessing Weapons of Mass Destruction to 'the ability to make weapons'. This is a phrase that means anything you want it to - there is not a human being over the age of 4 who couldn't 'make weapons' inside of a few minutes (e.g. pick up a rock and throw it).

keep it up and you will win. Bush indeed did lie and indeed is now trying to revise history. He lied and thousands of lives that were in their prime, were murdered by him. This is the pro-life president?

I attended the Maine Caucus today in my county. There was an enormous turnout--so much that they ran out of the papers and we had to sign in on a legal pad. There were so many people at the caucus that it was a stifling and so crowded event that one wished they could open a window--most of us had heavy winter garb on, it was a freezing wind and the streets were coated with ice. It was hopeful and envigorating inside. We cheered for the Democrats and it was good to know that people came out in droves to protest Bush and to sign on. Kerry got the most delagates--but Dean and Kucinich got some also.

May we defeat this asshole of a spoiled little cheerleader, pretend to be a military man, George Bush by a huge margin and may he go down and drown in infamy and take himself and his frumpy of a leach wife who has done nothing to earn her keep and our money to support her trips abroad, back to the pig farm where they both can drink themselves into oblivion night after night in order to escape the murdering and the killing they have done and they have supported on their watch.

They are despicable people just leaching off our tax money and not caring on whit about the people of America.

13. Awesome,Marianne. Thanks for posting this. Is that unusual for
such a turnout, especially in such weather conditions?

From what I read, it seems that all the early primaries are drawing record or near record crowds. I give a lot of credit to Howard Dean for having the courage to stand up against Bush and Co.He has inspired many a democratic voter to get involved.

Governor Dean, even if he doesn't win, deserves a tremendous amount of gratitude for helping the dems find their legs and their voice.
