GI Dies As Iraq Insurgents Attack Convoys
GI Dies As Iraq Insurgents Attack Convoys
By VIJAY JOSHI, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Insurgents attacked U.S. Army convoys in three areas, killing one soldier and wounding three others Sunday, witnesses and the U.S. command said.

Elsewhere, a U.N. team met with Iraqi leaders Sunday to discuss the chances of holding early legislative elections, and its leader pledged to do "everything possible" to help the country regain its sovereignty.

Meanwhile, a bomb planted inside a police station killed three policemen and injured 11 others on Saturday, officials said. In southeastern Iraq (news - web sites), about 90 Japanese soldiers began their controversial humanitarian mission. They are the first Japanese troops in a combat zone since World War II.

8. Sometimes when I sit here I want to break down
Just break down and let tears flow. I feel absolutely rotten about this whole mess. The people on both sides who have suffered, the iraqi people who suffered for years, and now even more, with our foot on their necks.
Everytime I come here to read about another soldier dying and more wounded, everytime I read about the people there still being subjugated, I don't know. Maybe, I'm feeling the affect of winter's long bite, but I'm ready to just bust out in fucking tears. Goddamn fucking sociopath.

11. I feel ya!
It makes you feel so helpless and somewhat guilty when I hear about troops being killed:

I live in sunny SoCal and here I'm soaking up the sun while kids half my age are dying for the oil in my car.

I read a message from a GI who said he prays every morning that he will come back to his base alive!

I had enough of anger and I decided to take some action!

I joined ANSWER.org collecting a signatures for a "Peoples'Petition" to bring the troops home.

Taking action hasn't totally remedied the bad feelings about what's happening in Iraq, but I know I'm doing something to fight back.

9. If I'm correct, this soldier was mentioned on ABC radio news
today, and they said he's a native of Mexico, and that his family moved here, where he enlisted in the service, and that his mother says she is very proud of him.

Very sad, isn't it?

10. I received a letter from a soldier in Iraq a few days ago
he said they were in convoys on the road sometimes 14 hours a day, three days a week. He asked if I could help replenish their CD supply, saying they had listened to the same music over and over. I sent him a couple CDs and a buttload of junk food; I send stuff about every three weeks. Poor thangs. :(

12. Nothing more than bad press..
to the Neocons. This guy will be forgotten by tomorrow.

However, if you've been to CNN.com in the past *six* hours, you've seen they're showing our brave pResident fielding tough questions from the "press" on their front page.

CNN, you have just as much blood on your hands as Rumfield, Pearle and Chimp Boy.

14. Kick
Thought it was sounding a little too quiet on the Bush warfront lately. But I've given up hoping we can go more than a few days without more pointless deaths.
