Lee County sheriff's remark draws Palin apology

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott is in the national spotlight as a result of what he said at a today for vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's rally at Germain Arena in Estero.

When Scott took the stage he declared the world had three types of people, "the ones who make things happen, the ones who watch what happens and the ones who wonder what happened. Let's leave Barack Hussein Obama wondering what happened."

The arena, about three-quarters full now, burst into screams and applause.

Scott's use of Obama's middle name has caused a stir.

(FORT MYERS, FLA.) - Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott took the stage moments ago as one of the introductory speakers at a rally here for Sarah Palin. After delivering brief remarks in support of Palin, Sheriff Scott flipped the switch and used Barack Obama’s middle name in order to incite the crowd of thousands of people who have already gathered here.

“On Nov. 4, let’s leave Barack Hussein Obama wondering what happened,” the law enforcement officer said.

Many of the thousands of people in attendance roared their approval at Sheriff Scott’s dig at the Democratic nominee, whose Kenyan father shared the same exact name as his son.

10. Palin's comments in Clearwater lead to shout of "kill him"

It's not clear if the person meant kill Obama or kill Ayers, whom Palin was talking about, claiming that Obama is good pals with a domestic terrorist.

This reminds me strongly of the wording of Hillary Clinton in the primaries discussing what could happen to Obama before the convention, including assassination.

I decided it's time to do something about over the top, hate inciting remarks such as this.

I called McCain's senate office and campaign to tell them that inciting hate and kill them comments was over the top and not fitting of a potential president of the US.

I know that law enforcement agencies screen for fascist, anti-social behavior in their recruits, and this one rose to the top of the ranks. But when are they going to flip things upside-down and EXCLUDE them from employment instead of move them to the front of the class?

My husband and I saw this sheriff on the news tonight and noticed he was wearing his uniform. My husband , years ago, was running for a county seat and he wasn't allowed to wear his uniform in the State Of Florida. He was also a deputy sheriff for the county of Hillsborough Tampa Florida. In fact, the republican that ran against him pulled the state law from the book and made him drop out. That republican didn't win, the democratic person who took over for my husbands campaign won. We still have the news clipping and the state law.

Now this was several years ago, but if I can find that law I will contact the Obama people and let them know. If it's still on the book, then this sheriff can take some time off without pay. If this state law is still on the books, we will make sure no other law enforcement appear on stage, in uniform for a political event. Wish us luck and if anyone know who to contact for the Obama campaign, please IM a phone number. I want to make sure they are aware of this

1. That sheriff should be suspended for wearing his uniform to a partisan event, thereby inferring that he was there on county business.

I called The Florida Governor's office and filed a complaint. They transfered me to the Florida ethics office. They are sending me a complaint form. I encourage everybody to do the same.
