U.S. general wants help in Afghanistan now
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 09:15 AM by cal04
Source: Associated Press

The top American military commander in Afghanistan said Wednesday that he needs more troops and other aid ''as quickly as possible'' in a counter-insurgency battle that could get worse before it gets better.

Gen. David McKiernan said it's not just a question of troops — but more economic aid and more political aid as well.

Speaking to Pentagon reporters, the head of NATO forces in Afghanistan said there has been a significant increase in foreign fighters coming in from from neighboring Pakistan this year -- including Chechens, Uzbeks, Saudis and Europeans..

''The additional military capabilities that have been asked for are needed as quickly as possible,'' he said.

3. Well maybe if our politicians will fess up to the real reason we're even there...

instead of feeding us the old meme 'get bin Laden', we might at least listen. The lies will
just fall on deaf ears.

But no one in either camp wants to mention the "P" word.... those pipelines and that Caspian corridor should be informing us that we will remain dependent on oil/gas for some time to come. It's the elephant in the room of the proposed 'energy policies' and the calls for a return to
Afghanistan/Pakistan.

5. The truth of the matter is that Americans will only stand up for their own pocketbooks!
The peace movement has been geared up since before this war. Americans ignore this and they ignore their soldiers. When people began calling DC about Wall Street this week it made me ill. I have made hundreds of calls to DC in support of the troops and trust me I have never gotten a response like the peeps did about the 'financial crisis'. Wake up Americans and help these guys out! Give a Dam*, make a call.
