U.S. forces in Iraq find cyanide with suspected al-Qaeda link
http://globeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20040207.wcyani0207/BNStory/Front/

Associated Press

Washington -- U.S. forces in Iraq found three kilograms of cyanide during a raid late last month on a Baghdad house believed to be connected to an al-Qaeda operative, U.S. officials said.

The cyanide salt was in either one or several small bricks, and U.S. officials said they believe it was to have been used in an attack on U.S. or allied interests. Cyanide is extremely toxic and can be used as a chemical weapon, although it was unclear if the cyanide was in a form that could easily be used that way.

The raid took place on Jan. 23, a defence official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. It was unclear if anyone was captured in the raid. Parts for making bombs also were found in the house, the official said.

The house was inhabited by a suspected subordinate of Abu Musab Zarqawi, U.S. officials said. Mr. Zarqawi is a Jordanian whom CIA officials have described as a senior associate of Osama bin Laden.

And this is being announced today exactly why?

1. Why now?
The latest polls on Bush show his approval rating slipping further under 50%.

And Kerry's lead on Bush is increasing.

4. Bingo!! Check out this graph
from www.pollingreport.com on the national barometer trends. Notice a correlation between a certain threshold of downward trend and those dates when it began to rise? If you look at the data, whenever there's about a 40%-45% approval, something big happens...including 9/11.

In a week the retraction will appear on page B26 of an obscure midwestern newspaper.

3. We've had so many of these "supposed finds" that turn out to be something
else just as this article says: "although it was unclear if the cyanide was in a form that could easily be used that way."

The finds are always posed as "possibly used, could be used, unclear but suspicious....blah..blah....blah.

It's like the boy who cried "Wolf!" too many times. It all become so obvious that how can people be expected to go "WHOO WEE.....THEY FOUND THE WMD! Sheesh.....:-(

6. They might want to look up the legitimate uses of cyanide. . .
and the fact that it's in wide spread use for hundreds of different purposs.

Doesn't mean shit.

7. I once found 32 pounds of cyanide
under a farm house I was moving. It is commonly used for killing rodents and varmints.

8. Next, they will find drano in a bathroom
And announce that it could 'possibly be used in chemical warfare'. Plus, the bathroom was used by 'someone who knew someone whose uncle met someone once who had once been to Afghanistan, and therefore might have met someone who worked for Binnie'.

9. Well then...
I mean, if unnamed US official and unnamed members of the CIA give up a suspect, who am I to question it? I mean, especially if he's believed to have done something wrong. Especially if he and his nasty Muslim followers are believed to have done something, well, nasty. Especially if unnamed U.S. officials say they have mounting evidence. Especially if another alleged suspect is named by a U.S. official on condition of anonymity. I mean, who am I to question, really? You'd have to be some tinfoil hat conspiracy nut to question. Or a blame-America-firster. Or a pinko Commie. Or something like that.

10. We missed the most telling part
"The cyanide salt was in either one or several small bricks..." They don't have anyone over there that can count higher than 1??
