Rudy Giuliani's 'crass opportunism' reflects on Mac: Dems
Source: New York Daily News

Rudy Giuliani is positioning his law firm to cash in on Wall Street's train wreck - a move that has become a gift to political enemies of his pal John McCain.

Even as the nation's $700 billion, taxpayer-funded Wall Street bailout was still being hashed out, the former mayor announced Thursday his high-powered law firm has set up a task force.

Its mission: to help corporate clients get a piece of the action - or keep the federal wolves from the door.

"Our team of former government officials and experienced attorneys in the fields of legislation, enforcement and finance are equipped to guide institutions in this quickly evolving and complex environment," Giuliani noted in a press release from his law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani.

5. Everyone was warned about Guiliani...
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 02:39 PM by Baby Snooks
But New Yorkers loved him and his "law and order" persona which unfortunately was backed by Mafioso tactics which shouldn't have surprised anyone given his ties to the Mafia which hated Leona Helmsley because she refused to be bullied by them. And of course New Yorkers hated Leona Helmsley. Such a bitch. A Jew. And all that money. Never mind she was framed by Giuliani and George HW Bush's cousin who issued a gag order against the Helmsleys but not Guiliani who proceeded to try her in the tabloids long before the actual trial began. But she did warn everyone. And no one listened. Everyone should have. But no one did.

6. Not true
Guiliani was hated by most NYers. He redeemed himself on 9/11 by filling the leadership vacuum created by Bush. Without 9/11, Guiliani would be a noplace nobody.

8. I disagree...
Most New Yorkers credit him, even the ones who loathe him at this point, with cleaning up the streets of Manhattan. Law and order indeed.

As for 9/11 he didn't redeem himself with everyone and particularly not with those who heard about the strange lady who walked into a fire station that afternoon with a $5 million check and offered her hotels to those who needed something to eat or a place to sleep. Her name was Leona Helmsley. More checks followed. Despite the fact everyone hated her. She still loved New York. Even if New York didn't love her.

Rudy Giuliani refused to acknowledge her act of kindness. Which allowed quite a few to finally see him for what he was and is.
