China sentences monks to 12-year prison sentence
China has sentenced three Tibetan monks to 12 years in prison for painting a Tibetan flag and possessing photographs of the exiled spiritual leader Dalai Lama, rights groups said yesterday.

The three monks are from the Khangmar monastery in Kakhog county - or Hongyuan county in Chinese - in the Ngaba prefecture of southwest China's Sichuan province, which borders Tibet.

A report, commissioned by the Australia Tibet Council, Free Tibet Campaign and the International Campaign for Tibet, identified the monks as Choedar Dargye, Gedun Thogphel and Jampa Choephel.

9. Where on earth did that come from?
The "Arab world" is an identifiable and widely recognized area/group of countries tied together to one degree or another by culture, religion, language, history and ethnicity. It is not, by any reasonable measure, an offensive or inappropriate term.

What in the holy hell is the "Negro world?" If you want to accuse a DUer of being a racist, at least have the character to do so openly so that he can have a fair opportunity to defend himself against an accusation rather than an insinuation.

.. how many of you have heard of the Forbidden Team? It's a soccer team made up from Tibetians in exile, they played a game against Greenland back in 2001 after major complaints from China. Especially when they wanted to display the Tibetian flag.

6. The Chinese Piss me off!
But even the Dalai Lama says to forgive them. They think they're "modernizing" poor backward Tibet.

11. Bush I should never have pushed for MFN status for China
right after the Tianamen Square slaughter. It was an opportunity to stand for Democratic principles and we sold it cheaply.
