RE: Suspend all McCain for President Advertising
"As you are aware, the John McCain for President Campaign has suspended all campaigning to address the current national financial crisis. Effective 5pm today, September 24th, 2008, all advertising for the McCain for President Campaign must cease. Please notify your stations immediately."

45. no, they want to cancel the election
No need to pretend to count votes, bush can just hand the keys to the White House over to McCain, and the democrats will allow it all to happen again...they will say, maybe this time the GOP will play fair , maybe we should postpone campaigning and play nice, stand behind the president, take blame yada, yada ,yada . Democrats have the issue, they just need to pound it in and not let up, rather than give in make the GOP meet their terms.

... it's simply not going to happen.

Pry the tinfoil off your head. McCain is pulling a stunt "I'm so important Washington can't do without me" .

Trying to turn this into "canceled elections" is absurd.

Of course knowing what a slimeball he is, IF things have a resolution he will claim full responsibility.

132. This is exactly what I've been thinking,
though I'm desperately trying to convince myself otherwise...if McCain was worried in the slightest that such a stunt might cost him the election, there is not a snowball's chance in hell that he would go through with it.

Which leads me to think he's not worried about the election at all. :tinfoilhat:

8. Its not that pulling the ads helps the financial situation
its that halting his campaign and going back to Washington allows him so say, "Getting the American financial system back on track is more important to me than campaigning for President, unlike my opponent." Plus it slows the financial hemorrhaging of his campaign. It is a cynical ploy and I don't trust it one bit.

But it makes the candidate look like he's unprepared, and can only focus on one thing at a time. You shouldn't trust it one bit - it's all a stall tactic. He may have experience, but it hasn't prepared him to lead.

Time and money -- that's why McPOW wants to "delay" the debate and "rush" back to DC (where he hasn't voted in the Senate in months.

Need time to coach Moosebreath

Need money for ads

The clock is ticking on the old geezer and he knows it. So they try this stunt. It's nothing but a ploy. I think (hope) most people will see through this BS.

Obama is right -- debate is on; show the President can handle more than one thing at a time!

25. Even if people buy the idea that McCain needs to lead the effort
in helping the Banking committee (which hhe has never been on) write the legislation - even though he was never known as a Senator who meticulously crafts legislation - and even if he said he doesn't know much about economics, there is NO personal connection of the candidates to the showing ads or fundraising. This is a stunt!

Does he stay next that we can't have an election? Is he trying to make Bush 2004 look sane in comparison?

39. I am calling BULL SHIT on him and Bush. Bush has been preparing for this for months.
It's an early October surprise ...but not really a surprise since the problem has been known about for quite a while. They've waited until now to pull the finger so as to interfere with the campaign. McLame is a coward and he knows he is going down in the polls and that's why he has called off his campaign. This is 100% bull shit coming directly from McLames asshole. It's more important to have this debate because we are talking about the next leader of the US who will have to deal with this problem. Yea right ...a problem of whether or not to give rich crooks our tax money while we are still pumping money into Iraq and oh geeze we can't afford universal health care. There is so much bull shit with all this that it's squishing out of the white house doors and windows and it's about to explode McLames asshole.

he's got nothing to offer. he and his cronies are responsible for this and he has no idea what to do to get out from under it so he is going to 'suspend' his campaign to 'focus on this problem'.....translation: hide until this is over and he can go back on the attack all while under the cover of 'leadership in crisis situations'. what a sick tired joke.

And, yes, I think the Obama team is going to be ready. McCain, country first, stops campaign to attend to crisis. At the helm. McCain in control. Obama flitting about the country, clearly doesn't care about ordinary Americans. Just wait and see. It will take a few days, but the Obama cares more about winning an election than about saving the country from economic ruin ads are going to show up, probably on Saturday.

51. OH duh ! I know what it is !!!!!!!

It's the National Enquirer story.
The last straw of increasing thinner ice, to badly mix metaphors.
The story has legs. And affadavits.

Look what has happened this week:

Palin canceled Ca. tour.
They canceled meeting with Bono, did a phone in.
Palin has been hidden for weeks except for one 20 second photo op at UN.

And now McCain makes a face saving ( all right, to him face-saving) run for cover and cancels the ads.
If you get a chance to watch him on tv re-runs of his presser, he looks like a ghost.
He did not even stay to answer any questions.

Game over.

from all around the country at every TV/radio station to pull these ads at a moments notice. 123. McCain is a coward
You know what his nickname was in Vietnam Songbird. That's what the other POW's called him. He got special treatment because the Vietnamese considered him like royalty. He told them how important his Dad was.
He refused to leave Vietnam early because he did not know if he could face his fellow Americans again. Coward!
He made over 30 radio broadcasts condemning America and in support of the North Vietnamese.
He goes to pieces if he hears keys jingle.
He has worked hard to suppress all POW records. Infarct he has worked to make them confidential forever and not subject to the freedom of info act.
So what is he hiding? He's hiding the fact he was a collaborator with the North Vietnamese.
All the ex-pow's know what he is like. No one would care if he had actually been mistreated as a POW then made to do stuff but they say he was not and he got special treatment.
Any POW who was actually mistreated would not hug the prison guard who mistreated him McCain did!
He would say or do just about anything to stop them from doing any harsh treatment.
The man is a coward and he is showing once again this side of his personality in trying to get out of the debates with Obama.
McCain is a lier, and a coward. The man has no honor.

96. tentative summary of possible explanations
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 07:49 PM by Maineman
Possible explanations, so far:

1) he has a medical problem

2) he needs to regroup after George Will wrote that he is unfit to be president.

3) they are going to replace Palin

4) they are going to replace McCain

5) it is coup time with marshall law and the whole ball of wax

6) he is doing what kids in jr high and high school sometimes do when they fear they will do poorly on a project - they do not show up, or they forget to turn it in.

7) he is making new ads

8) he has a financial problem

Number 5 obviously is the scary one. I have feared it for about 6 years.

139. This is ridiculous. What difference does it make if the ads run?
I can see postponing a campaign stop for an important economic meeting or a vote on the bail-out package, but pulling ads seems totally unnecessary. I can see pulling ads in a situation of respect for a national figure who has died or if a lot of people had died during a horrible natural disaster, but this is none of those. Then again....Republicans DO care about money more than people, so maybe this is out of respect for the dead economy.

145. McCain claims to pull ads.....hahahahaha not true!
Ok here is the deal,McCain claims to pull all the ads. and asks the democrats to do the same except once that is done the mcCain people purchase all the democratic canceled air time so Obama can't get back on to the TV anywhere. Hows that for neocon thinking.
How do they pay for all that? Easy have a Wall St. firm agree to buy all that air time and then not pay and use the $700 billion to pay for it. Remember Neocon = Intellectual elite Ordinary folks = ignorant masses
So they think they are above the law and we are all stupid and they can get away with anything.
