Bush bench choice irks environmentalists
Ninth Circuit nominee is former mining and cattle lobbyist who is critical of federal regulatory power

Neil A. Lewis, New York Times

Washington -- The battle over President Bush's judicial choices moved into the environmental arena for the first time on Thursday when the Senate Judiciary Committee took up the nomination of a longtime lobbyist for ranching and mining interests who has been a leading critic of environmentalists.

The nomination of William G. Myers III to a seat on the federal appeals court covering nine Western states, presents the starkest example yet in the debate over whether someone who has spent a career vigorously advocating a particular ideological viewpoint about the law is an appropriate candidate to be a federal judge.

Democrats on the committee attacked Myers for speeches over the years in which he often used the strong language of large ranchers and other Western landowners who maintain that they suffer oppression at the hands of federal environmental regulators. Myers once said, for example, that environmental regulations were akin to King George's tyranny over the American colonies.

Snip-

But Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said the nominee was especially unsuitable because "he has dedicated most of his career to advocating for mining and cattle industry interests that opposed laws protecting the environment."

Hey we all know which King george this creeps referring to.

Nothing the ASSHOLE in chief does surprises me anymore. This POS is pure evil. Does ASSHOLE know how to pick em' or what?

When the Democratic Party kicks his sorry ass out of that stolen office it will probably take a couple years or more to assess the damage asshole has done. First they have to fire all of his appointees and undo all the regulations that they pushed to further the destruction of this planet.

Oh ya, I also expect him and his POS admin. to answer to war crimes charges sometime next year.

On the other hand, maybe Myers had a change of heart and wants to protect the environment now.:eyes:

1. Seriously, you know what would be hilarious
I can't see Kerry doing this, but I definitely could see Dean try it. After the WMD panel comes back with its findings, and say they decide (unlikely) that the intelligence was correct but that the administration hyped it. When dubya is out of office, try his ass for war crimes. Send him and rummy and the rest to the Hague for a trial!
