Billy Tauzin (R-La) to make 2.5 million a year off Medicare Drug Bill
http://www.citizen.org/pressroom/release.cfm?ID=1635

In a letter to the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, Public Citizen asked officials to investigate whether Tauzin began negotiating for a job with PhRMA while crafting the legislation. If he did, he may have violated House conflict of interest rules. The job offer is rumored to be worth $2.5 million, likely the largest compensation package on record for anyone at a trade association.

1. Big topic at lunch yesterday
The fix was in from the get-go, we decided. What's 2.5 million to the pharmaceutical industry, which will make at least $100 Billion (with a B) off this legislation? And gee, a week after its passage, the White House "adjusted" the figures to add another $130 billion to its cost. The trade off? Unconditional and unlimited financial support for Bush. Congrats to the pharmaceutical industry. They have now surpassed the insurance industry as the scum of the earth.

2. 100 Billion?
Good grief. How much did Hastert and Bill Thomas get under the table
for threatening and blackmailing some of their wayward repubs? I will never forget that night.

5. Let the special prosecurtions begin!
Two overt cases of bribery. And Bush is having to spend our tax dollars to tell us how wonderful this is, because people are beginning to figure out it sucks.

8. It's the Republican Congressional way...
And they disparage and threaten anybody who would DARE challenge them on their own brand of bribery!

I understand that now the Delay/Hastert threats extend not only to Repubs--and Dems--already elected, but to potential voters in elections as well. In the Kentucky 6th District Special Election, Hastert reportedly made a not-so-veiled threat to kill any Tobacco Program Buy-Out if his Repub stooge was not elected over Ben Chandler. Gotta lot of gall crossing the Ohio into Kentucky and threatening them, Hey, Hastert, Kentucky gave you LINCOLN, remember!? :grr:

B-)

11. If Bu$hit wins next fall
it will go down in history as the official end of the USA. The repubs will consolodate power with incredible amounts of money, and a one-party system will be the result. They will have total control of the M's -
money, media, & military. It might get nasty.

12. Luckily, conflict-of-interest, fraud and theft are now all legal
For members of the Imperial Family, their friends, contributors and stooges, that is!

God, I can still remember when America was free.

15. When questioned???
He said "he had to earn a living." So the procedure is....get elected to Congress/Senate, screw the citizens, and then set up a posh position in the company that you were hired by to do the royal screwing. Sounds like voters would be better off hiring the local corner whores...at least we know where they come from and what their actual profession is! DC is laden with retired-politicians, retired-Generals..Admirals..Colonels..Majors, ex-lawyers, etc., et., who have wrangled their way into every office of power in our Nation's Capital. They will do anybody and anything to maintain and build on their power base. They also seem to establish a trust account for their spouses, children and family members.....maybe this is what Bush meant when he says "Leave No Child Behind."

19. Shame has nothing to do with this.
It is blatantly and unquestionably illegal. If some lowly civil servant tried to pull this shit, he'd be tossed in jail faster than you can say habeous corpus. It is just another demonstration that "some animals are more equal than other animals" in the barnyard.
