Driver Says FEMA Trucks Parked, Not Delivering Ike Supplies
Source: WOAI.com

Last Update: 4:55 pm

A San Antonio-area truck driver left five days ago to help FEMA deliver supplies. He's still waiting to make that delivery. (News 4) SAN ANTONIO, TX -- A local truck driver left his family to help people affected by Hurricane Ike. But he and his family might soon have to get help themselves.

What's the problem? He's behind the wheel of a FEMA truck, and FEMA trucks are parked, instead of delivering.

Paula's husband is a truck driver. He left five days ago to help FEMA deliver supplies. But while they're hundreds of miles apart, they have something in common: They're both sitting around waiting.

If she's not texting him, Paula is on the phone with her husband. Her husband and other drivers had been, literally, sitting in their "loaded" trucks in Angleton waiting to help out the thousands of people affected by Hurricane Ike.

2. FEMA has to be one of the most poorly managed operations
ever. What is the problem? I read the article and still can't figure out what they are being told to wait for? Crazy!

8. If Americans have not learn by now , they never will learn
Bush and his administration are not concern about the little
people , the less they spend on American citizens the more
they can pocket for the "ELITIST" Like McCain , Bush
, Cheney , Halliburton Blackwater and so on and so on..

Republicans have been taught by corporations their method of
advertising to sell their products to the American citizens
which really didn't need or want them for the past 100 years.

If you just keep repeating you lies , BS and propaganda over
and over and over lots of people will buy into it.

Just like the idiots which are still going around saying that
Saddam and Iraq had ties to terrorist and 911.

When our citizens are still making these statements then you
know we have a meltdown of intelligent in our country....

When we have a Britain millionaire subjects like Lynn Forester
de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and
member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform
Committee , calling Obama a elitist , while she has around 100
x the wealth of Obama , then we know that she is a McSame
implant. We know that she , as all other republicans look in
the mirror and sees the problem with our country and then try
to throws her BS on a democrat.

Go home Lynn Forester ,, McCain will help you if you are a
foreign worker or personal , but not if you are a worker or
citizen of our country..

9. No surpise there.
I found this today when I was trying to find who to call to amend a FEMA application for a person I know. This person has no electricity and has to dive to a special station that's been set up just to recharge their cell phone to keep in touch.

September 18, 2008
How do I amend my FEMA application?

I filed a claim with FEMA online and since then found out we will be without power for 3 weeks. I need to amend my claim to buy a generator and I do not know how to do this. The FEMA phone number disconnects me and the websight will not let me make any changes. Please help! Posted by: randy udovich at September 18, 2008 01:48 PM

Here is what the Federal Emergency Management Agency Web site has to say about amending your application:

If I have questions about my application or need to change some of the information I provided, what should I do?

Call the FEMA Disaster Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (hearing/speech
impaired only: 1-800-462-7585).

I tried calling the number. The recording said I should press 3 to change information in my application or speak to a FEMA representative. It then said all agents were busy, referred me to the Web site, and said I would be disconnected and should call back later. Not a very helpful helpline.

How can you go to their website if you computer was destroyed in the flooding? Not to mention all the people like my friend who still have no electricity. :wtf:

30. KHOU reporters were interviewing the FEMA....
guy in Austin-Brian something. They were veerrryy nicely asking the same questions. The guy was sarcastic, defensive, and downright rude. No people skills what so ever. THAT interview had my blood boiling.

Folks here are not mooches. When you are on food stamps and welfare here, you ARE in bad shape. I didn't stand in line-I sucked it up and put on my big girl panties and did what needed to be done because I could. Did that make me better than those standing in line.....HELL NO, I was just luckier. I figured I could get by-make due, I know some folks can't because of their circumstances. And if they can't fight-we will be fighting for them.

If FEMA thinks they can get away with this...they need to know this is NOT New Orleans, and Bill White is not Ray Nagen. It took us a while, but Houston made FEMA pay us for cleaning up the mess they made here when we took in folks they screwed over in NOLA. Damn straight, FEMA better be watching their asses.

Their will be changes in the way they respond in the future. They learn a bit after Katrina and I am sure they will learn a few more before Ike is over.

16. Washington is broken....cause we (repub) broke Washington

That and we only bail out millionaires. Sorry but people are too poor to help and should pick themselves up by their own bootstraps. Just like George Bush who never relied on well connected friends to fund his failures...oh. Nevermind.

18. Sadly this is normal.
After Katrina I sat on a load of water for almost a week. That's one of the main reasons I will not haul FEMA loads anymore. I would love to help out but I can't sit for days trying to deliver.

it was to dangerous for us to deliver. Then we were told they were not sure where we were suppose to deliver it. It was like no one was in charge.

21. Ridiculous - they have no logistical plan at all, do they?
With all the corporations in the US who run huge delivery systems, you'd think they'd think about getting some expert advice before a crisis arises. But, oh no . . . .

22. This man needs to get a news crew, and follow my advice
Call up a dozen local stations in and around TX. Tell them you're a FEMA truck driver and have been told to park your truck. Tell them it's because no one seems to be able to tell you where the supplies go. Tell them to follow you because you're going to drive that shit to Galveston against orders and pull that fucker into the parking lot of a Galveston grocery store and open the fucking doors. Bammo!
