1. Paln's bounce was a mirage.
Now McCain's on his own against Barack Obama on the debate stage.

14. Yup, and he doesn't even realize it yet! I think he's been thrilled
to show off his purty little partner and let her carry the weight for a while. "Yea, she's got energy, people like her . . . Heck yes, I can take another nap".
He's WAY too old for this.

2. Now that it's about the issues again...
...we have the advantage.

This week, America didn't receive a wake-up call; instead, the girl from the front desk came up and slapped us in the face.

Twice.

So far.

The Palin/lipstick/image/narrative Publican strategy has just been gutted like a moose. Suddenly, issues trump rhetoric, and McCain's only high cards are in a suit no one's leading.

It's sad that it takes a catastrophe to make America choose substance over smokescreens, but it's nice to know we still have that capability.

4. I hate to think that economic catastrophe is good for us in any way
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 12:38 AM by NoMoreLurking
but if that's what it takes for the sheeple to wake up, a little pain in the short term could mean a lot of gain in the long run!!!
:-( about the economy (though not surprised- they held it off as long as they could)
Woot woot for the US if we finally wake up!!!

10. Time for a New New Deal... or New Deal 2.0... or whatever ...
Expect the media to use either terms.

Mark my word.

I think New Deal 2.0 would fit Obama better, him being the candidate of the new age, who uses the Internet to his advantage the best, etc... and also elected (if everything keeps going as they are), by the Internet generation.

New New Deal would be more in phase with older demographic medias, like NYT, Time, etc...

Whatever we call it, we need one.

Oh, and that situation makes me want to cry, because many people are going to lose their jobs.

12. Obama's the guy to bring it . . . but I agree. This country and the
true majority of its people have suffered enough. We are struggling and we really do need "change we can believe in".

6. Apparently, a knock upside the head was needed
and the markets delivered.

It's essentially a vote of "no confidence" with both the McCain and Bush camp and with those who've bought into previous rounds of their propaganda and deregualtory policies- both here and abroad.

Like or no- the US is still a leader in many things, and it's long past time that we put people back in office who lead with intelligence as opposed to ideology.

22. That's what I think. As long as they're blunt, focus on the issues and
call McCain on his BS, her on her lack of experience, especially in light of the current financial situation, and the networks continue to cooperate it should become pretty smooth sailing again.

I think maybe the MSM are starting to worry about what happens to them during a total financial meltdown. IMHO

17. My Mom was polled by Quinnipiac yesterday.
There were questions about Palin and boy did she give them an earful!! She is very pro-Obama. She wrote down all the questions that she was asked and we are waiting for the polling results to come out. She was so thrilled that someone asked her opinion that she thanked them for calling!!

This still ain't over.

I will say, however, that jokes about McCain's sagging being due to his forgetting
to take his Viagra are fair game........
