Poll shows Obama opening comfortable lead over McCain in Iowa
Source: The Associated Press

THE NUMBERS: Barack Obama 52 percent, John McCain 40 percent.

OF INTEREST: Iowa has long been viewed as a battleground state, in part because of narrow margins of victory in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections, but Obama appears to have opened up a wide lead. Iowa went narrowly for the Republican, President Bush, in 2004, as it did for the Democrat, former Vice President Al Gore, in 2000. The state has seven electoral votes. ...

1. He's our neighbor.
I'm from Wisconsin, where he's also doing well. He's a fellow Mid-Westerner, so I'd imagine that helps him in Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan and even Indiana. It would be great to have Iowa in a solidly Dem column this year.

4. The Comfortable word should be used until Nov 5
We know the slimballs we are up against. Never ever let your guard down. We need to go full throttle up and possibly beyond Nov 4 (depending on what kind of election trickery they try to pull).

6. Exactly
I'm really hoping that if the exit polls don't match the vote count this time an immediate investigation happens. I am one of the last people to accept election tampering that KKKarl calls "voter fraud". I'm pretty sure now that was much of the reason for the US Attorney scandal, to tip the balance if any question on vote count occurs. That's how they got Florida, in 2000, and that is how KKK was setting up for the states. Why aren't he and Harriet sitting in that basement jail under the halls of congress? This whole world is fucked up.

7. Very good news.
I, too, would like to see Iowa in the solidly Dem category this time around. Got my Obama sign this week and proudly placed it in my yard. Wish I could get a great big one so the cars on the highway could see it.

10. Congrats Iowa
You've managed to avoid being targeted for incessant political ads! Wish I could say the same for PA. The McCain adds for change are almost impossible for me to watch.

11. That's the kind of momentum...
...Obama needs. Supporters to Campaign: What is driving the momentum in Iowa? More of that elsewhere is what is needed. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

14. Nice to see another swing state safely in the blue column.
If Obama wins all of the Kerry and Gore states plus Colorado, we win.
