Man kills 1, hurts 6 with sickle at Japan shrine
Source: Reuters

TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese man killed one person and injured six with a sickle at the grounds of a Shinto shrine where an autumn festival was winding down, police said on Sunday.

A 42-year-old street stall operator was arrested over the incident, which took place late on Saturday in Hakusan city in Ishikawa prefecture, central Japan, an Ishikawa police spokesman said.

A 30-year-old man died from his injuries, the spokesman said. Kyodo news agency said another victim was seriously hurt and five had minor injuries.

Kyodo said the man told police he had become angry after being teased by a customer, went home and returned to the grounds of the shrine, where around 20 or 30 people remained after the festival, and began slashing at people with the sickle.

5. Clearly
it's time for harsh anti-sickle legislation. How many more need to die?

A man released from jail a few weeks ago went on a shooting rampage in Skagit County Tuesday afternoon, killing six people, including a Skagit County deputy, before being arrested, authorities said.
Chad Lewis, a Department of Corrections spokesman, identified the man as Isaac Zamora, 28, of Alger. He was under the department’s supervision after convictions for theft and drug possession.

He was arrested in Mount Vernon after a high-speed pursuit down Interstate 5 in which at least one passing motorist was shot to death.

A state trooper involved in the pursuit was slightly wounded during the chase.

A woman who identified herself as Zamora’s mother told KIRO-TV she has tried for years to get mental help for her son.

“When they’re over 18, you can’t make them go anywhere,” Dennise Zamora told KIRO. “He just turned 28.

8. You do realize....
That in this story, the shooter stole the gun of a deputy to begin this shooting spree? Are you proposing that law enforcement no longer be allowed to carry weapons?

11. i merely observed that the outcome COULD have been different
given a different weapon in the hands of an insane person.

if you're going to infer specific policy proposals from an observation, you should have realized that my intent was to propose ending high school after sophomore year, legalization of pot, cutting the military budget by 2/3, & eliminating the ATF.
