Mail Search Yields No Direct Ricin Links; Senate Buildings Begin Reopening
Investigators have finished examining letters and envelopes from the office of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) and found nothing that immediately suggests a link to ricin or to any previous ricin-laced mailings elsewhere, law enforcement sources said today.

Investigators looked at postmarks, return addresses and the contents of the letters, the sources said. A lab in Maryland will now look for any traces of the lethal poison ricin on the letters, the sources said.

Meanwhile, life for employees of the Senate began returning to normal this afternoon.

Yesterday on CSPAN, I caught the Senate investigation into the intelligence issues with Iraq; Sen. Carl Levin noted that the Senators were at a "disadvantage" in questioning Scumsfeld because their offices were locked & didn't have access to information.

(John McCain, to his credit, ripped Rummy a new one by pointing out numerous instances of contractors in bed with the government, "ghostwriting" op-eds for the Navy and Army papers, etc.)

Any connection?

There aren't many coincidences in life...
