Biden: Hillary a Better Pick Than Me
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 07:30 PM by Nambe
Source: ABC News' Matthew Jaffe

Barack Obama's vice-presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Wednesday said that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, might have been a better pick for the position than him.

At a rally in Nashua, New Hampshire, a man in the audience told Biden how glad he was that Obama picked him over Hillary "not because she's a woman, but because look at the things she did in the past."

"Make no mistake about this," Biden responded. "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me. But she’s first rate, I mean that sincerely, she’s first rate, so let’s get that straight." ...

I like Joe, and he is a good back up president.

For a minute I thought he was using it to step down to stop the attempt at polarizing the race with one woman, but then I realized the Obama campaign has much more going for it than that and McSame has nothing, really.

22. I'm working very hard at learning to like Obama....it's people like you who make it hard
It is so wrong, on so many levels, to discuss Bill and Hillary as if they are interchangeable. Hillary has had zero years in the White House as president or vice-president. We're not changing horses by running Barack Obama instead of her.

You are also undercutting our argument to win in November. It isn't about the candidate's last name (Bush or Clinton). It's about a Democrat versus a Republican. Hillary and Obama both stand for the change this country needs--an end to the Bush/GOP years.

Steve

41. If anonymous posters on the Internet get you pissed at Obama, that says more about you.
Rational people do not let random anonymous supporters affect their ability to like a candidate.

28. Hillary would have been the worst and Biden should not have opened old primary wounds...
The Republicans are obsessed with the Clintons. If Hillary had won the nomination, we would be reliving the Clinton v. Republican years all over again. We would be bombarded with Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones all over again. The difference between Hillary and Obama is that Hillary repels the Republicans and moderates and Independents would go to John McCain so fast that it would make your head spin. Part of the Obama allure is that he has been able to bring Republicans, conservatives, moderates, Independents, young and new voters....all these people who we thought would never vote for a Democrat. And all of the polls taken of Moderates and Independents show that a Hillary on the bottom or top of the ticket would push them towards the Republicans. Hillary Clinton is a divisive figure in the world of politics. I still don't understand why that's so difficult to swallow.

32. WRONG!! Can she help him govern? No. Only Biden could do that for him. And do it quite well!
I know a very large contingent of life-long conservative Republicans who are quite enthusiastic about Obama. A deal breaker for them would be to have HRC on his ticket. In fact, many more Indies and Moderates are lured to this ticket because of Biden, who gives Obama a much-needed boost in the foreign policy area. Don't get it twisted, ladies. HRC is disliked. The M$M only wants us to believe that she would be better which is a subtle form of racism and is highly insulting to Obama who has worked hard and has been disciplined throughout the entire nomination process. He earned it and should be afforded the respect to choose anyone he wants.

I am quite pissed off with Biden for his remarks but I'll get over. Biden was the best choice. He really is.

35. I hear you, and I know that Hillary was strongly disliked, but the public is very susceptible to
the media's influence, and since they've changed the narrative (Hillary is now a champion of the working class and white people are allowed to vote for her and so forth), people may forget all about it.

Also, McCain would look like an idiot if he said anything bad about her after he put out all of those ads after Biden was chosen praising her. Of course, Palin could be the attack dog, and the media never has called McCain for any of his flip-flops in the past, so that may not be the case. It's hard to tell.

I just think we need some fucking publicity. McCain's stolen the corporate media's spotlight. Let's give them a big story so big that they CAN'T ignore it; that's my idea behind this.

25. No Torricelli maneuver
Obama has picked Biden, for better or worse.

Yes, it would have been better for the ticket if he had picked Hillary, but that is water under the bridge. Talk of dumping Biden only feeds the atmosphere of "desperation." So stop the talk, and make sure that Biden keeps focused and away from open mikes.

The Obama-Biden campaign needs to get back on message and stop talking about Palin or they are toast.

The Repubs will be all over this like flies on shit. Dems gotta learn when to not say stuff like this. It feeds the Rove monster. Also, I agree that Hill would be better. Right about now she'd have Sarah Palin in a full nelson. We need the Clintons to be more than casual observers.

If Joe steps down it'll look like the Obama camp doesn't have their act together. The only way he could do this is if he made a press conference thing out of it with Obama in the background and Hillary there too. It would have to look like a loving family making a wise decision. And the next words out of Senator Obama's mouth should be "And I am happy to announce that Senator Biden has wisely accepted my offer for him to be my Secretary of State should I win the election."

Short of that scenario, like I've been saying Obama should announce Hillary as Sec of State to get those 18 MIL female voters back.
