Polls: Latinos favor Obama in 3 important battleground states
Source: USA Today

By Kathy Kiely, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — New data released at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's annual meeting Tuesday show that the Latino vote could be "crucial" for Barack Obama to win this fall, pollster Sergio Bendixen said.

In three of four battleground states where Hispanics make up at least 10% of the voting population, Obama had a distinct advantage over Republican John McCain among Hispanic voters, according to polls Bendixen took for NDN, a Democratic think tank. In the fourth state, Florida, a poll showed the two candidates were tied, he said.

NDN President Simon Rosenberg said the findings are significant because in 2004 "the key to George Bush's victory was his success with Latinos." Rosenberg said he believes last year's immigration debate "fundamentally altered" Hispanic support for Republican candidates.

1. About time.
As Truman said: "How many times do you have to be hit over the head before you figure out who's doing the hitting?"

2. good I hope they feel the truth
& I hope Obama does stand firm for actual democracy, they ought to point out that Palin's church has & is openly calling the Catholic Church the 'whore of Babylon', strange & sad but true. The Right is not for Latinos/Aztecas, not while their radio calls for what they have.

3. And TIED in Florida, too.
Polls: Latinos favor Obama in 3 important battleground states

.....

In the fourth state, Florida, a poll showed the two candidates were tied, he said.

.....

• Nevada: Obama led McCain 62% to 20% among Hispanic voters. Among the state's non-Hispanic voters, McCain was favored 46% to 37%.

• New Mexico: Obama led McCain 56% to 23% among Hispanic voters, while McCain had a 50% to 34% edge among non-Hispanic voters.

• Colorado: Obama topped McCain 56% to 26% among Hispanic voters. Among non-Hispanic voters, Obama's narrow 45% to 41% support was within the poll's margin of error, Bendixen said.

• Florida: In the state that decided the 2000 presidential race, the poll found McCain and Obama tied among Hispanic voters at 42% each and among non-Hispanic voters at 43%.

In 2004, President Bush bested Democrat John Kerry by 12 percentage points among Florida's Hispanic voters, Bendixen said.

Hessy Fernandez, a spokeswoman for the McCain campaign, dismissed the poll as having been compiled by "a Democratic group." ....

5. Hey when the Jews in Florida find out what the Wilder Beast Sarah
has to say about Jews and Armegeddon they will abandon McCain and Florida will go for Obama. See, what happens is when you fail to vet someone that is wearing dirty undergarments, you end up having to smell their stink. McCain will eventually get a whif of Palin and understand that she ain't just no pitbull--she's a shitbull!

6. More good news about the Hispanic vote
Despite concerted efforts by the GOP to slow things down, 3 million immigrants will have naturalized and will be eligible to vote since 2004's election and the overwhelming majority will vote Democratic in November. Plus, they're concentrated in key battleground states. Plus, the are usually undercounted in polls because they are suspicious of people phoning to ask them about their political opinions and often don't have the language skills to feel comfortable participating in a poll. And newer immigrants are often not picked up as likely voters because they have not voted before despite their strong interest in voting.

Overall, very good news for us.
