New Al Qaida statement warns of major attack on U.S.

Al Qaida has again warned of a major strike in the United States.

<snip>

"A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," the statement said.

...Just 'in time' for the 2004 s-election, so Bush can declare martial law and 'postpone' it.

5. Now that you mention it...
Here's today's Gallup poll on Bush-Iraq:
Support for War in Iraq Drops

A new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll finds Americans' support for the war in Iraq has retreated from the higher levels coincident with the capture of Saddam Hussein last December, and is essentially back where it was last fall.

18. I am really beginning to see a pattern in the timing of these damn things.
I resist the temptation of actually believing in a cahootz. Nevertheless, the seeming pattern is very, very suspicious. I wonder if anyone has a log of the hot topics pending each time another one of these tapes are released. It would be very helpful in establishing whether there is a consistent pattern.

6. Not sure, but they freelance for Carlyle Group.
My only question... when the 'capture' of bin Laden takes place sometime between the GOP convention in New York and the 2004 Diebold s-election in November, will bin Laden still collect his pay?

Cheers,
Lori Price

7. Let us hope not.
Politics aside, that would be horrible.

Now if we can get our head out of our preverbial butts on Iraq, maybe we can do something about it.

15. Well, you have all survived all the previous "warnings" over the..........
past couple of years and they panned out to just be distractions, so rest easy. I'm sure that all will be well till the next "inquiry" or falling numbers and they need another alert to get everyone paranoid again. Life goes on.

10. Brainstorming contingencies
Attackers always target soft enemy, not necessarily republican. This would be civilian banks overseas, embassys, open targets and less well defended "home soil". Ports, oil ports and oil port security. Put a charge inside a tanker's oil chambres, designed to generate enough heat to ignite any petrol, or liquid gas within miles... would wipe out a port facility... but that is more military, to be honest, and not a civilian high profile target, like hitting the UN in iraq was, or the world trade center of a nightclub full of commonwealth people dancing in bali. High profile civilian would be non-hardened american overseas...

I hope they are extending national security for the democratic party caucuses happening in other major world cities during this next month. A bomb killing a bunch of democrats, could seal a republican second term.

Then theres thse damned Ghassanids as OBL calls them. A bomb destroying the independence hall in philadelphia... a real low blow symbolic attack. A bomb destroying a similar cultural target in any nation supporting the US, the more fringe the better, as then its more likely to disturb the boundary of consent, expecially in places where public opinion is racially different than government opinion regarding support for bush. They will make bush stronger so that he will attack even harder with more malice, and in the blossoming of a full strike bush malice, a billion terrorists will grow like mushrooms.

That might be the thinking. Ghassanids are fringe peoples oppressed by the central command of AWOL. In that sense, even DU represents a dissident ghassanid, as elements of teh democratic party speaking are really really deeply angry with the democratic party as well, and are truly non partisan. These people are fringe and could be driven towards becoming violent, and voting republican. Likely though he means ghassanids who live closer to his universe, complicity in egypt, chechnya. The al queda are guiding our "reaction" as their primary weapon. The reaction they consistently seek polarizes and militarizes the public, it bankrupts the treasury, weakens commerce and compels a permanent state of militarization. The reaction weakens democracy and liberalism, and by clogging the arterys of life from flow of free civilian life, the militarization kills the patient.

These attacks work like an ontological cancer. They create "word" an event that has no meaning at all, and it then decidedly has meaning in the eyes of those whom have the power to put the military in the street.

Armed hykakkers grab 2 petrol tankers and destroy port facility in panama. 2 petrol tankers blow up columbia president and civil war erupts as the army cracks down in full combat sweeps against the insurgency. Sharon and cabinet killed in suprise raid by elite armed commandos.. that would cause a ruckus. Civil war breaks out in iraq by the assassination of tribal leader xyz. they are messing with the ghassinids.

That's my best raw seeing on it for the moment.

peace,
-s

Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 03:43 AM by bluestateguy
If another 9/11 type of attack happens I will vow to react differently than I did last time. I will not be a part of any "rally around the president" crap. I simply will not. I am not interested in participating in the Bush Administration's botched, demagogic and incompetent "war on terrorism".

16. And all of us in other countries will just kind of roll our eyes..........
this time. You can bet on it. No more tears. This time you will all have to admit in America that something is seriously wrong with your government and also that it is either attacking you or not protecting you - but something is very fishy.

17. It is impossible to protect us from terror
It can't be done. Sure, we can limit it, go after the root causes and those who sponsor or start terror. But the reality is the U.S. is the big kid on the block. Many around the world resent that. We are too big to stop them from attacking us somewhere and technology is such that we can't prevent every attack.

13. Anyone see that videotape on the early morning news?
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 04:45 AM by sfg25
It showed six suicide bombers in Iraq and the main voice says they carried out their missions successfully. The descriptions and video footage of at least one their targets match a recent bombing.

The "intelligence" people said some of them didn't look like they were from the area. The "intelligence" people are still trying to determine who they were. Basically their conclusion was that some appear to be outsiders.

The AHOLE pres. said he was a uniter and the tape seems to prove he was correct.

Sorry, the link is cbs:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/02/03/eveningnews/main597738.shtml

"The group appears to be an offshoot of another organization operating here that the U.S. says has ties to al Qaeda. Their stated aim is to kill Americans and set up an Islamic state in Iraq."

Doesn't everything have ties to Al Qaeda?:eyes:

Even pres. AHOLE has ties, take a look at the irrefutable proof below!

14. The World Tribune is not a reliable source
and a google search of Tajamu Reform Party of Yemen comes up blank. Looks like some more irresponsible fear mongering by our right wing extremest radicals friends who like to make this crap up, especially when W needs another distraction. Unfortunately, until now and the election, W is going to need a lot of distractions.

20. I think they were named something else
I believe I recall this being discussed on another thred some time ago, but I can't remember the context. The name was correct, as I recall, but the order of the actual words in the name was different.

It's possible that's what's going on here. Perhaps it was the "Yemeni Tajamu Reform Party" or some such.

19. "again warned"?
There wasn't an explicit warning before, was there? Rumours picked up by the intelligence community, yes, but I thought Al Qaida didn't go in for the 'we are about to strike' stuff? Or is Bush admitting he was even more asleep at the wheel than we thought?
