Romney to take a swipe at Michelle Obama in Convention Speech
Source: CNN

(CNN) — Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney appears to take a veiled shot at Michelle Obama, wife of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, in prepared remarks released ahead of his address to the Republican National Convention Wednesday night — comments the Obama campaign is calling a "pathetic GOP attack."

"Just like you, there has never been a day when I was not proud to be an American," Romney will tell Republican delegates according to advance excerpts released by the Republican National Committee.

The comments appear to be a not-so-subtle reference to Mrs. Obama's comment in February on the campaign trail when she declared, "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country." Those comments were immediately criticized by Republicans, and Michelle Obama later said she misspoke.

Barack Obama's campaign fired back at Romney's expected remarks Wednesday night, calling them, “as pathetic as (Romney's) failed presidential campaign.”

“Barack Obama has said that families are ‘off-limits’, and we thought that John McCain agreed," Obama adviser Anita Dunn said in a statement. "But tonight, John McCain’s handpicked attack dog, Mitt Romney, exposed the fake outrage that the Republicans have been peddling all week as the blatant hypocrisy that it is."...

What a man! Don't touch Michelle, dog abuser. She has more elegance in her pinky than you have in your entire family.

He will piss off Obama, which is usually a good thing, since Obama gets especially eloquent when he's righteously angry. He doesn't like politico's attacking his family.

14. I find it ironic
that that whore, Romney, is speaking the convention in support of McCain when McCain and Huckabee's delegates in West Virginia colluded into shutting Romney out of delegates based solely on the fact that he is a mormon. He will turn his butt up high in the air and forgo the vaseline.

All they can run on is character assassination because they sure can't run on the issues.

A civil war? You know people die in war don't you? Do you really think his words are grounds
for us to start killing each other? I don't. Getting shot at and seeing someone that has
been shot and dying is tragic and ugly and stays with you forever.

Let's not have that civil war you are hoping for.

35. when it starts, it won't matter, nor will we know,
who fired the first shot. Pretty soon Dems, liberals, people of color, workers, and other targets of GOP hatred, lies, and crime are going to be pushed too far. The stolen elections and constant degradation and dehumanization and marginalization and lack of representation in DC and in the media will reach a breaking point. At that point, somewhere like Fox "News" studios or one of Karl Rove's mansions or a WTO meeting or some such place, it will start, and we will finally purge Reaganism from the country and the world. I hope I am alive to watch & help out

They've lost it.

They only have smears and STEALING the election again...

I hope we have our people in place to protect the integrity of the counting of the votes should it come to that. We better be ready to roll the moment it occurs and to be a wall between the repuke operatives and democracy this time around - if we fail to do that - we'd better be in the streets all over the country...

I keep reading here that they were members of the AIP but the only proof I have seen
was from the AIP saying they were not members.

Do you have the secret link showing their membership or even the source of this fact/rumor?

28. You mean like this?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080902/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_palin_politics

Palin's husband was member of third party
<snip>

Gail Fenumiai, director of the Alaska Division of Elections, said Todd Palin twice registered under the Alaskan Independence Party — in 1995 and 2000. Some members of the party have advocated secession from the United States, though that is not a goal listed in the party's platform.

Voter registration records show Sarah Palin registered in May 1982 as a member of the Republican Party and has not changed her affiliation. Todd Palin has been registered undeclared since 2002, Fenumiai said.

Palin did address the Alaskan Independence Party's state convention by video earlier this year, welcoming the party to Fairbanks.

<snip>
Is that good enough for you? Or do you want me to travel to Alaska, break into their house, steal his membership card and photocopy it?

31. What about this one from the horses mouth (AIP)?
http://www.akip.org/

Welcome to the home of
The Alaskan Independence Party
UPDATE September 3, 2008 Noon ADT

It has been brought to our attention that there is a COUNTERFEIT SITE now up on the net. This site is a FRAUD and has infringed our copy write. We are presently seeking legal recourse.

Contrary to initial reports, Vice-President candidate Governor Sarah Palin was never a member of our party. We stand corrected. We issued a press release today. It is posted here to those members of the media who did not recieve it.

Todd Palin was registered as a member but never participated in any party activities aside from attending a convention in 1994.

We had several hundred people attend that convention and nothing of noteworthy status took place outside of nominating the most conservative candidate up to that date to ever run for Governor of Alaska. That candidate was the sitting Lt. Governor, Jack Coghill. This man was one of the authors and signers of the Constitution of the State of Alaska.

For ALL Media contact. Please contact Lynette Clark, Alaskan Independence Party Chair
----

Can you really get to Alaska and photocopy his card?

34. I assume there will be no need to that now that the AIP has confirmed the 'rumor'.
I said Todd Palin was a member. You wanted me to provide proof of that.

Both Gail Fenumiai, director of the Alaska Division of Elections, and Lynette Clark of the AIP have now confirmed that.

I imagine if any brave reporter would actually ask him about it, he'd be forced to admit it.

You've got to hate America an awful lot to sign up with a secessionist party, and attend their convention, on at least one occasion.

Barack and Michelle Obama have never done it. Neither has Biden or his wife. I've never done it. I'd be willing to bet McCain hasn't done it.

Michelle Obama was branded as a traitor because she said that she was 'truly proud of America for the first time' recently. You can love your country and not be 'truly proud' of it. You can't love your country and want to secede from it.

Joe Volger, founder of the AIP:

"I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her
damned institutions. The fires of hell are glaciers compared to my hate for
America and her government".
