Giuliani: Palin could handle 9/11 crisis
Source: AP

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani says if Sarah Palin had been president when the U.S. came under attack on Sept. 11, 2001, he's confident she would have been able to handle the crisis.

(snip)

In an interview Wednesday on ABC's "Good Morning America," Giuliani was asked, "If she were the president on 9/11, you would have been confident?"

Giuliani responded: "I'd be confident that she'd be able to handle it. She's been a governor of a state, she's been mayor of a city."

Looks like the "executive experience" talking point is being passed out fast and hard.

34. Wot's the big deal with "executive experience"?
George W. Bush had "executive experience" before he became President, and look at what a screw-up he turned out to be. I also have a problem with the message that high-level political experience is the only experience that matters. One of the things I like about Obama is his community organizing background. His experience is working with ordinary and marginalized people who have serious problems, such as trying not to end up homeless. He didn't spend his whole life hanging around rich people and political operatives. Obama is definitely more in touch with ordinary citizens than McCain and Palin put together. McCain, who doesn't know how many houses he has, and has a skewed perception of what it means to be middle-class, is more elitist than he thinks Obama is.

48. Because they've picked a supremely unprepared, untested, even unqualified VP ...
... that totally undercuts their previous "experience" argument against Obama, and so they need to somehow twist reality such that *HER* lack of experience isn't like that lack of experience they were talking about before.

Which is why the McCain campaign is so pissed-off at CNN for the Campbell Brown interview of Tucker Bounds, the other day, when she, remarkably, managed to do her basic job as a journalist in trying to get Bounds to provide any examples of Palin's commander-in-chief readiness. Brown didn't fall for the "executive experience" fluff, and kept asking for a single, tangible example. Bounds was made to look like a fool.

I don't know about Alaska, but most western states are organized differently than eastern ones. California only has cities (although they can call themselves towns, they're the same constitutionally): they range from the city of Amador (pop. about 200) to the city of Los Angeles (pop >3,000,000). It's like saying you're the CEO of a 10 person company and thinking you're in the same league as the CEO of a Fortune 500 one: same title, same legal type of entity, but vastly different experiences.

New York has cities, towns, townships, villages, and hamlets and despite having grown up there I can not fully understand how they work together.

That said, there are buildings in New York City that house more people than Wasilla.

ETA: according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Alaska_by_population, there are cities in Alaska with populations less than 50. I've had parties bigger than that!

8. Yes, becasue she handled the raging Moose tragedy of 03' brilliantly.
It was horrible this moose just ran amok shitting all over the place, he even mounted a stuffed moose at a local taxidermists office. Palin quickly boarded a plane flew 500 miles and shot two moose standing in the woods believed to be the suspect moose's family. Give me a break, Giuliani also thought it wouldnt hurt him politically to dress in womens clothing on multiple occasions. What a douche.

9. These guys need to get a life.
Rudy's 15 minutes of fame is 9/11 and McGoo's is being a POW.

Granted, these are awful events, but they aren't the only people who went thru trials and tribulations at the same time.

Where would they be if it weren't for 9/11 or the Vietnam War?

Answer: They'd both be chasing women.
