Pelosi's Promise to Siegelman at Democratic Convention

NewsChannel 19's Greg Privett reports

September 2, 2008

New details in a high profile case of politics and prosecution. Democrat Don Siegelman has good news from last week's Democratic National Convention. Be sure to see the accompanying photo from Denver. You can see Governor Siegelman on the left, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the right, and Democratic activist Pam Miles in the middle. Miles tells NewsChannel 19, about the time the picture was snapped, Pelosi promised Governor Siegelman, "We will hold rove in contempt".

The House Judiciary committee voted in July to charge the former Bush White House strategist with comtempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena to testify. Now it's up to the full house, which reconvenes later this month. House Judiciary chairman John Conyers was also talking in Denver about Rove. Conyers assured Siegelman, "We're not done with him yet".

Governor Siegelman tells NewsChannel 19, "I am still calling members of Congress everyday." Siegelman has set up the website ContemptForRove.com. Siegelman remains free on bond while awaiting appeal of his corruption conviction.

The G.O.P. ties don't end there. Federal Judge Mark Fuller presided over Siegelman's trial despite his political ties to the Republican party. Judge Fuller has financial ties to the Bush administration.

16. I would like to believe that, but Pelosi's record so far as speaker makes it difficult to do so.

2. Then i wil start holding my breath
:sarcasm:

Really after all these disappointments from the people who should know better, I want more then Pelosi's word.

The Party leadership needs to rebuild our trust and show that guys like Feingold and Wexler aren't just flukes.

In short, i 'll believe it when I see it actually happen.

9. Then I suggest your grandma run for office
Because When it comes to holding the Bush admin accountable, Pelosi has been .....less then what was hoped to put it nicely.

I would love for Nancy to "go get im". In fact, that's what I and others have been waiting for her to do. and we are still waiting.

Maybe your grandmother can do better.

15. Hell yeah, boyeee! God, I'd love to see Nancy Pelosi turned out of office. Then if
we could just go down the line and unseat every single member of Congress except Wexler, Waxman and Kucinich...

21. Whoa there pardner! There are other Reps who should be retained...

My Rep, Lynn Woolsey from Petaluma and Barbara Lee from Berkeley immediately come to mind and there are actually a least a few dozen more who probably deserve to be spared when the Quislings are purged. Only Kucinich among your short list is due an unquestioned pass IMHO.

13. Pelosi will huff, puff and
roll over on her back like the good puppy she is, was and always will be.

Impeachment off the table?
Contempt this late in Rove's life?

Way to remain (ir)relevant, Nancy. We need a new Speaker. Madame Speaker is an embarassment.

12. And the last horse crosses the finish line. . .most "real" Democrats with spines have held
Rove in contempt for years (and contempt his mild).

Welcome to the club, Grandmother Pelosi (a day late and dollar short has always).

27. I'll believe it when I see it, Nancy.
So far, you've just been a big wind bag. All talk, no action. You were going to provide oversight. Where is it? You were going to hold this administration accountable. Where's the accountability?

So far, I'll I've seen from you is honoring your "impeachment is off the table" bullshit, and a lot of harsh talk but no action.

You, Nancy Pelosi, are a disgrace to America because you have so far let these criminals get away with it. Shame, shame, shame ON YOU!
