U.S. more prepared for Gustav, than Katrina: FEMA
Source: Reuters via Yahoo News

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. emergency management agency, harshly criticized for its failures in handling Hurricane Katrina three years ago, said on Saturday it was better prepared for Hurricane Gustav.

1. How could you ot be?
Three quarters of NO's population is gone. That alone makes the potential disaster more manageable

13. It's too bad..
he didn't say that when Katrina hit. I heard part of his speech last night. He said that the residents of NOLA 'should be scared' and 'this is the storm of the century'.

5. "More" is the operative word.
Hopefully their inability to coordinate an effective levy system in THREE YEARS will not lead to the deaths of many of New Orleans citizens. Unfortunately, I can't hold out hope.

8. Yes, so much more prepared because the last response was...nothing.
No response last time makes anything they do this time a 100% improvement. Simple math. From simple minds.

Fuck you, FEMA.

9. Bush ‘unlikely’ to attend GOP convention - because of concerns about Hurricane Gustav.
Shit-For-Brians is so very concerned - this time..... uh-huh. Best excuse they could have been given to keep the village idiot away.

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/08/31/bush-unlikely-to-attend-gop-convention/

This morning, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said that it is “unlikely the president will travel to Minnesota on Monday” because of concerns about Hurricane Gustav. “We are currently preparing alternate plans.” Gustav is expected to make landfall along the Gulf Coast as early as Monday, the same day that President Bush, Laura Bush, and Dick Cheney are scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Cindy McCain, and Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) are planning to travel to Jackson, MS, today, to receive a Gustav briefing at the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
