Fosh Automotive = Hoax (and an anti-Barack Obama one at that)
Source: autobloggreen.com

It's true, the new FOSH site (which I'm hesitant to link to so as to avoid giving them even more publicity) is an anti-Obama, anti-abortion rant. Here's what the site's writers have to say now:

Disclaimer - We are a real business, but we do not operate under "Fosh Automotive". We are not associated with any business, website, or person that promoted this site. All information found on our site is of our opinion. Also, there is an unintentional error in our domain registry information and the number listed is a digit off. In this article we will also explain what we will be doing with the email list we have for our "testers".

For those that believe we are pulling a hoax, you're dead wrong. The real hoax is barack hussein obama and we are trying to make the world a better place by showing you how easy some people fall for what they want to believe. The United States of America, without the socialist, entitlement supporting, flip-flopping, lying, checkered past barack hussein obama as our leader, is better off, as is the world.

It goes on from there. Read on after the jump to find out what FOSH will do with all of the names/emails of people who signed up with them. Hint: it's got nothing to do with cars.

6. There may be actual fraud in this, not just hoax.
This is from their site

We were going to sell the first ten cars for $24,995 and use that price point for these test units only. At this time, we're looking to give away those first ten test units. Send us a short email on why you would make a good tester (no attachments) to: roadtest@foshelectricauto.com. We will take all of the emails we receive and put them into a drawing for the ten spots. All winners will be announced during our unveiling. The price point for all units after the first ten will be around $45-55K. If you would like to lower the sales price, you can opt to get the car branded with sponsorship logos. We are signing up more companies by the day, and each company offers different plans.

They collected emails for fraudulent purposes.

In what state are they based? That's where any action would have to take place.

26. Any lawyers handy? I have a question...
I know in real estate dealings, if for some reason the seller won't convey title after the buyer met all the demands of the contract the seller can sue for "specific performance."

Would it be possible for the people who signed up for these assholes' "free car giveaway" to sue for a sort of specific performance? Since they don't have any perpetual motion machines to give away, perhaps specific performance in this case would force them to purchase ten Priuses and draw names from the roster of "road test" suckers?

8. Thought their website was rather limited for a car company.
Shelby Super Cars has a real website and actual sponsors and affiliations with major players like Jay Leno, Penske and others. The interesting thing is they have an electric with a 5 year expected fuel "life". I think it's projected to be 1000HP or more with a debut in late 2009.

10. The website should be reported to ICANN
for violation of their rules - phone numbers has to be correct, not fake.

Might as well report the website to WIPO and their ISP.

Fucking idiots thinking that they could get away with it.

25. Then you're just giving them what they want...
I even question if this truly is politically motivated or not. To be honest, the Obama thing sounds more like something they thought up really quick because they figured it would piss people off... Either way, they are obviously trying to rile people up and they are getting their jollies from negative responses.

I really wish they would have done something more entertaining though. I was looking forward to it.

14. Here's their registry info
FWIW...

Administrative Contact:
Automotive, Fosh foshelectricauto@gmail.com
PO Box 18982
Austin, TX 78729
512-417-7443

Aggravating. If it's not actually fraud (and it would be interesting for a legal type to check out), it sure is one sh*t for brains stunt.

:spank:

And embarassing, too. Evidently, some red-state Texan trog has snuck across the city limits into the People's Republic of Austin. We're not really in Texas -- we're just surrounded by Texas!

;-)

fools hoaxing fools. ultimately, who cares? what, will they sign the poor imbeciles up for some republican email lists? they'd be a nice gullible audience, and as such perfect for republican propaganda i suppose. but that doesn't seem to be the sort of message they really might want to send.
