Forbes/APCORAOPOLIS, Pa. - A gas storage company has issued a voluntary recall of kerosene in parts of four states, including Ohio, because of concerns it might contain gasoline and be explosive.
Pittsburgh Terminals Corp., of Coraopolis, issued the recall late Wednesday after a station in Erie reported problem with its kerosene. The fuel was tested and found to be mixed with gasoline, a problem Pittsburgh Terminals traced to a malfunctioning valve at its storage facility about 10 miles west of Pittsburgh, said company spokesman John Arnold.
People who bought kerosene between May 1 through Tuesday in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia and southwestern New York should return it to wherever they bought it, Pittsburgh Terminals said.
Pittsburgh Terminals has been contacting gas stations and other retailers that receive its fuel and the retailers are supposed to be posting signs about the recall, Arnold said. If customers bought the fuel from a station not affected by the recall, they will be told the warning does not apply to them.

Possible Link Between Death, Kerosene Probed
NEW WILMINGTON (KDKA) ― Investigators are looking into a possible link between the death of an Amish woman in Lawrence County and tainted kerosene.
Ada Kurtz, 25, of New Wilmington, died from burns following an explosion after she ignited a fire.
The Amish burn a lot of kerosene and it's a concern for Pittsburgh Terminals Corp.
"If someone would know Amish, they typically use kerosene, they need to contact their distributor and see if it's possibly problematic," Bob Bost, a spokesperson for the company, said.
