Voice of IraqBAGHDAD, Aug. 15 (VOI) The U.S. army said on Friday that one Marine was killed by small-arms fire in east of Falluja city, raising the U.S. fatalities in August to 15.
A Multi-National Force West Marine was killed Aug. 14 when his unit received small-arms fire during security operations approximately 1 km east of Falluja, said the U.S. army statement received by Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI).
The incident is currently under investigation, it added.
The death brings to 15 U.S. soldiers killed during this August and to 4142 the number killed since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003.
U.S. fatalities during the month of July reached 13, the number of U.S. soldiers killed in July as stated by the U.S. military, including two who had been reported missing in May 2007 but their bodies were found on July 9.
