Lieberman Endorsed By South Carolina Newspapers

Two of South Carolina's largest newspapers have endorsed US Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Editors at The (Columbia) State and The Greenville News highlighted Lieberman's centrist views.

Lieberman trails most of his six rivals for the nomination in national and state polls, which show him in single digits.

Hopefully his campaign will connect. His pragmatic views offer the best chance to win.

1. No surprise to this old Gamecock
The readership of both of these papers is predominantly Republican. Check out the demographics for Greenville county or Lexington county. I am sure they feel the most comfortable with old Joe. He is easily the least threatening to them.

2. Exactly
This illustrates his ability to appeal to the center.

4. The center of the Republican party
Not the center of the national Democratic party

You had to have lived in SC for as many years as I did to understand how skewed to the right the so-called "center" is in that state.

12. This is a state where fast-food tycoons fly the rebel flag...
...in front of their stores - and people still buy lunch there. Want to see the "center" of South Carolina? Go to Maurice Bessinger's Piggie Park and see.

6. We are suppose to be influenced?
Like we are suppose to be influenced by the endorsement of those that want us to lose. I think not!! :grr:

8. Last place finish and good riddance for Joe.
Hope Joe decides to leave politics entirely -- or come out and make it official -- he's a Republican.

9. dog crate
lining is all either paper is good for. Unfortunately, my husband still subscribes to the State for the sports and local stuff, but as far as I'm concerned it isn't worth the ink or paper. BTW, it's Knight-Ridder owned.

Lieberman just needs to get endorsement from some local Nazi organization and then finally we would be deep in the twilight zone.

"Two of South Carolina's largest newspapers".. ok South Carolina? Whooo, thats some serious Democratic heartland! /sarcasm off

But then again, flies are always attracted to shi*.

15. I doubt these endorsements will help Lieberman.
He is going nowhere fast and should drop out. I noticed there are very few Lieberman supporters on DU, though DU is not representative of the Democrats overall. The only press Lieberman gets is when he makes negative comments about other Democratic candidates when he should be directing his criticism toward Republicans. I feel this is a turnoff for most Democrats.
