'Bring them home' (NY) City (KIA) soldier's mom asks Prez
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/160625p-140857c.html

A young soldier from the Bronx who dreamed of becoming a cop was mourned yesterday by family and friends as his mother appealed to President Bush to pull out of Iraq.

Pfc. Luis Moreno, 19, was removed from life support at a hospital in England on Thursday, six days after he was shot while guarding a Baghdad gas station. He was the 13th soldier from the city and the 43rd from the state killed in the war.

Moreno's mother, Francisca de la Cruz, said that while it was "too late for my son," she had a message for Bush:

"Mr. President, the war is over, but people are still dying," she said. "They're getting slaughtered like animals. Please, bring our soldiers home. It's too late for my son, but not for all the others."

2. Not too late for the others is right.
Bring them home from a place they never belonged in the first place. Now.

3. This is sad. 19 years old.
(snip) His family last spoke to him about two weeks ago, before he was shot, when he called home to reassure them he was safe.

"I told him, 'Keep your eyes open and be careful,'" his father said. "And he said, 'I will, Dad. Hopefully, they'll be pulling us out in March or April and I'll be home.'"
(snip)

4. This young man's death
pushes the Bush serial killings to nearly 530 Americans and between 10 and 20 thousand Iraqi civilians. How long can the US allow this murder's killing spree to continue? When will US citizens start hanging guts from the flagpoles? Soon, I hope.

9. Actually, it's far worse.
I am guilty of low-balling the number myself. Here's why: we're only told the number of soldiers who die in active combat.

How many died of their wounds once they left the battlefield?

10. You are absolutely right!
Someone with the expertise and the access has got to go in and dig out the truth - the real numbers. This has gone way past obscene!

8. Governor Dean
was absolutely right about this illegal/immoral war.

To the mother: Good luck getting any sympathy from this administration.
