Bush to Consult Kay Before Iraq Probe

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush said he will order an independent investigation into intelligence failures in Iraq but will first consult with former chief weapons inspector David Kay.

Trying to quiet mounting election-year criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike, the White House had indicated earlier that Bush would name an independent, bipartisan inquiry into the Iraq problem and gaps in other areas, such as secretive regimes like Iran and North Korea and stateless groups such as terrorists.

Bush on Monday defended his decision to go to war on intelligence that Kay now says was erroneous. Kay has concluded that Iraq did not possess weapons of mass destruction.

"I want all the facts. We do know that Saddam Hussein had the intent and capabilities to cause great harm we know he was a danger ... He slaughtered thousands of people," the president said.

1. the man is a pathological liar
we know Saddam had the intent and the "capabilities" to cause great harm? There are no words to describe this bastard--none--the man is evil liar who has done the slaughtering of thousands on and with his lies.

I cannot believe that even the sour assed Republicans are letting him get away with these kinds of lies. They all , including some Democrats, must not be able to live with themselves. Maybe they do not have any conscience

This is unacceptable that he lies and lies and lies and they all support every rotten lie that oozes out of his putrid mouth.

2. The RNC take on this is that the whole controversy
Is being created by "the left", so should be ignored. An impossible position to choke down, however, it is certain to find lots of takers.

4. bush* doesn't need Kay...
...to make him look like a fool. bush* has done that little job ALL BY HIMSELF. Trouble is, he is a dangerous fool.

However, bush* does desperately need someone to blame.

5. Even Bob "The Traitor" Novak is questioning Shrub's credibility
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 01:48 PM by JohnyCanuck
I'm seriously starting to wonder if Shrub is not being set up for the big heave-ho by the repubs prior to the election. The man is looking more and more like damaged goods, e.g. The AWOL story finally making waves, A massive and increasing lack of credibility on the world stage (and increasing at home as well) which has only been fueled by the WMD fiasco. I mean you can only polish a turd so much before you have to admit to yourself, you're still dealing with a turd.

Excerpt from Novak's column Published in Today's Chicago Sun-Times:

Most worrisome to Republicans is Kerry's war hero image while, in the words of one prominent Bush supporter, ''our guy was drinking beer in Alabama'' (where actually he was working on a losing Senate Republican campaign in 1972). Republicans are trying to negate Kerry's heroism with his postwar peace activism, but that approach is not working. In an interview with Kerry in New Hampshire, I asked if he ever regretted throwing away his medals (Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart). There was no regret, but he hastened to add: ''I threw away my ribbons, not my medals.''

This may be a case where the liberal is a sufficiently agile dodger to blur his past, and the Republicans must rely on George W. Bush. On Friday, White House spokesman Scott McClellan bridled at the thought of the president suffering a deficiency in credibility. But that in truth is the biggest problem he faces today.

7. Nofacts is probably trying to appear "neutral"
in case there's somebody in the White House come 1/21/2005 who will demand an investigation into a few "irregularities".

12. "NoFacts" is "positioning himself" for a possible Kerry administration
What Nofacts wants above all is to be an insider. He loves to drop names and feel important. Tip O'Neil used to tell a story of how when he became Speaker of the House Evans and NoFacts came to him and offered to write puffpiece columns on O'Neil in exchange for access. Tip recounted that he "threw those two frauds out of my office." NoFacts is beginning to think he sees the writing on the wall that the Shrub may be going down.

8. Not confirmed, but...
There was a report on the noon news here in Atlanta that said that Bush was going to head up the independent investigation himself. At first I thought that I had to had heard wrong but then they went on to say that he would also be picking the others to serve with him on it. If this is true, thats a new all time low...

11. This will be a farce, like the "economic summit" in Texas
where the only participants invited agreed with *'s programs. And the sheeple will buy it.
