Delaware GOP's (Senate Candidate) Ting pays price for supporting Obama
Source: Delaware Online

The Delaware Republican Party's standard-bearer in the 2006 race for U.S. Senate has been expelled from his position in the state GOP.

His crime? Quietly supporting Democrat Barack Obama for president.

"Evidently someone went online and saw that I had been making contributions to Obama," Jan Ting said Friday.

Ting also was captured in a photograph at an Obama rally in Wilmington in February that drew record crowds to Rodney Square. At the time, Ting declined to comment about why he was there.

Maybe they could trade him to Connecticut for Joe Lieberman?

3. Let's see if he 'reappears' in DE politics as a Dem contender to Carper.

since he didn't win as a Repub contender. If so, then I think this may be a setup. I don't give quarter to any repub right now, especially one who changes parties (either forced or not). Jaded Delawarean here.

Edited to add: If the article holds true, then he is indeed a rare repub and held honor and values above party loyalty.

5. He probably wouldn't be much worse
and he'd be doing the Dems a favor getting rid of one the worst Vichy members of the Senate.

6. My only worry would be that he'd switch back once elected if that was the case.

The only thing Carper has going for him right now (IMO) is there is a "D" after his name.

9. Great shades of Democrats for Ehrlich (R). They ran off with the party name and supported the

opponent. That was in the Maryland Governors race between Bob Ehrlich (R)and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (RFK's daughter.) That really ate a hole in my ass. Because the entire purpose of a political party is to select candidates for office. We had already chosen our candidate. Then Bob Ehrlich (R) put out some money to found Democrats for Ehrlich. I say that makes him a member of the Maryland democartic party by donation. Since he switched parties in the middle of the election. That invalidated his Republican campaign. But nothing was ever done about it.
