(Hillary) Clinton to speak Tuesday at Democratic convention, sources say

Sen. Hillary Clinton has agreed to speak on the second night of next month's Democratic convention, headlining on the 88th anniversary of the day women earned the right to vote, sources say.

Two sources close to Clinton said the former presidential candidate will speak August 26 with all female U.S. senators on stage with her.

"Tuesday night is Hillary night," said one supporter.

That night is the anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which gave women the right to vote.

2. I hope other female senators would be allowed to speak, too. I'm much more interested in Boxer.

5. Neat. A fitting mark for 19th Amendment anniversary. I like all the female membership up,
as well. It'd be a good point for our national party's showcase.

Realize this may be just pre-convention buzz, but a good idea. The convention, for better or worse, has become our national prime time advertisement. Yet some good stuff has gone down.

I remember watching Ann Richards' homerun of a keynote, Sen. Kennedy's "where was George" speech and Jesse Jackson's address, noting AIDS on a national stage, at the '88 Convention. They were all a brief moment in time , but recognitions I'll never forget. Just for what they were, then and there, in that time.

:kick:

7. But Will Her Spouse Ever Endorse Obama?
If he does not, I hope that he is not permitted to speak.

8. bizarre
Why should he get involved? When he does he is slammed. When he doesn't he is slammed.

Your expectations of the Clintons are bizarre.

For some reason, like Republicans, some dems love to hate them.

9. It's Too Much To Expect A Former Dem President...
to endorse the Dem nominee? Do you think you're setting a rather low bar?

11. he did endorse him
I don't see you calling for any other dem former president to go on the campaign trail with him. The Clintons can not win no matter what they do.

10. "Why should he get involved?" Are you serious??
Goddammit, we have an election to win here, and Bill Clinton is a Democratic ex-president.

How can you even ask that question? We have a nominee. It's not Hillary. Get over it, Bill.

And Evergreen Emerald. The stakes, in case you may not have noticed, are high.

12. Where Do You People Live?
Bill endorsed Obama long ago.
Get with the program instead of looking for things about the Clintons to hate.

I'm a bit shocked that you now think Obama needs the Clintons to win. Maybe this isn't going to be the cakewalk you thought it would be, hmmmm?

Maybe you shouldn't have been so hateful about them during the primary.

Yes, Bill Clinton is a Democratic ex-president. Where were you when he was being attacked with lies and bizarre statements awhile back?

If it were me, but of course it isn't, it would be very hard for me to cuddle up to someone whose supporters lied, and said the most mean, ugly, things in the world about me. But the Clintons are bigger people than that, I guess.

Bill has been on TV endorsing Obama and saying he'll do whatever he's asked to do to support him. Now Obama, after elevating Reagan above Clinton, will have to tell him what he wants him to do so he (Obama) has a chance in hell of winning this election.
