'Saddam has Provided Useful Information'

~SNIP~

American officials have received useful information from direct interrogation of Saddam Hussein, a senior military official in Iraq said today.

The official would not say what the information was, but he said it allowed interrogators to confirm some suspicions and reject other information.

The official said both documents and the results of questioning of Saddam have allowed the military to hunt for some people involved in attacks on US troops.

He said military officials believe there are 14 cells of Saddam sympathisers in the Baghdad area and that many of them had already lost their leaders in US raids.

The official commented shortly after Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz flew to Iraq to visit troops that he says were justified in ousting Saddam because the former leader violated US resolutions ordering him to disarm.

2. You snipped the best part...
“It’s exciting to be back,” he said after landing near Baghdad, referring to a visit three months ago in which a hotel where he was staying was attacked.

This from the same man that scurried home as fast as he could like a dog with its tail between its legs. Exciting? Ask the troops. Bet they'll tell ya' the excitement has worn off a bit...jackass.

7. I'm sure the only troops near Wolfowitz are loyal stormtroopers.
Otherwise, the little bitch might get fragged.

3. But, but...Bremer said...
<snip>
Asked if Saddam was cooperating with investigators, Bremer replied: "He is not cooperating, but he is not a troublemaker either."

"He has not given us any important or useful information up to now and has not confessed to the whereabouts of his offshore funds, but we know for sure that he has a lot of money outside Iraq."

4. Was this a slip, or just bad editing

"ousting Saddam because the former leader violated US resolutions ordering him to disarm."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
US resolutions? I thought it was the UN that put them out there. Maybe they meant to say US false charges or something, but I thought it honestly was the UN.

5. I don't beleive any of this report
Bush and the cabal will lie about anything--It seems to be a lie to bolster up the notion that the 530 or more Americans dead was "worth it" because we got Saddam and he is "giving us information" whicj we have to keep secret then when we bomb a house, the persons and the five children in it we can say Saddam fingered the family as insjurgents. We don't have to say "suspected" insurgents anymore.

6. Pretty much a non-story news report
Feely good crap. A "news person" filling out their time card.

8. He gave useful information when he said he had no WMD
But that was ignored by Wolfowitz et al. So, why should we believe anything they say he says.

And, when is the (open to public scrutiny) trial? I will be much more likely to believe testimony that has been subject to cross examination, lawyers, rules of evidence, etc., than the reporting of yet another unnamed U.S. official in a British newspaper. I rarely trust any public official who is afraid to tell us their name.
