HOUSTON (AP) - A judge ordered DNA testing to determine whether President Bush's brother Neil fathered a child with another woman while he was married.

Neil Bush's ex-wife, Sharon, requested the tests to defend herself against a defamation lawsuit filed by the other woman's ex-husband.

Sharon Bush testified during the couple's contentious divorce that she heard rumors that her husband had an affair with Maria Andrews and is the father of her 3-year-old son. Andrews and Neil Bush are now engaged.

Andrews' ex-husband, Robert, filed a defamation lawsuit against Sharon Bush in September, saying he is the boy's father.

Like the rest of his family, Neil thought he could shortchange his obligations. This would never have happened if he'd treated his ex-wife, Sharon as she should have been - that is, as someone who had the goods on him. It's the * arrogance at work.

Whatever the results of the DNA test, I feel sorry for the child. But Neil? The more he's exposed, the better. Can you imagine the airtime this would get had it been Roger Clinton or Billy Carter?

6. It should get especially ugly,

considering Neil is now engaged to the child's mother, the one whom Sharon alleges he had an affair with, and Sharon is being sued for defamation by the woman's ex-husband. I just hope for her sake that she's right, that Neil is, indeed, the child's father, or the walls will all fall down on her.

9. Just think back on the summer of '01

when a relatively unknown Congressman's affair became a media feeding frenzy. Everytime Gary Condit's name was mentioned it was prefaced by "DEMOCRAT," as though his party affiliation was somehow relevant to the mystery of the missing intern.

It's hard to even phathom the wall-to-wall coverage, the endless speculation, the stupid comparisons to "another oversexed Democrat" that went on for months and resulted in nothing but totally ruining Gary Condit's life. It was like the whores were getting to relive the the Starr Report all over again.

The press loves stories about sex and infidelity as long as the parties involved are Democrats or close family members of Democrats. Republicans, especially the beloved and sacred Bush family must be afforded their privacy. Poppy got away with it with Jennifer Fitzgerald and Jeb got away with it with Cynthia Henderson. Neil will have to endure a day or two of media attention right now, but no matter the results of the DNA test, this story will be history soon enough.
