Netherlands Nabs Nigeria Scammers
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- Dutch police have arrested 52 people suspected of defrauding gullible Internet users in one of the largest busts of the infamous "Nigerian e-mail" scam.
(snip)
The detainees were not identified under Dutch privacy rules, but most were believed to be Nigerian, police said.

In a variation on one of the world's oldest scams, the Nigerian e-mail con artists present themselves as well-connected people who need access to a Western bank account to transfer a large sum of money that cannot be spent in their own country.

They promise a cut of the money in exchange for a smaller upfront cost before the larger sum can be transferred -- but it never is.

2. That's funny. I got one of those stupid e-mails. The funny part is
my money is only in the bank for about five minutes before it's spent. Talk about trying to get blood out of a rock.

6. Nooooooooooooooo, Please nooooooooooo!!!
I really enjoyed reading those emails. I would normally get 2 or 3 a month and I found them so entertaining. I couldn't imagine anyone would fall for something so obviously a scam. Oh well, I sure someone else will take their place.

8. Unfortunately some people do fall for that stuff.
Hey I liked reading those too.

Those Nigerian generals must have fallen on hard times. Either that or the govt. bank is ripping them on the rates. Back a couple years ago they were offering 10-20% shares on up to $60,000,00. The one I got last week offered a meager share of only $16,000,000.:-(
