B.C. marijuana is financing guns being used by Afghan insurgents, the province's top law enforcement official said Friday.

Solicitor General Rich Coleman told the Vancouver Board of Trade that weapons used in Afghanistan were tracked and the trail led back to the sale of B.C. marijuana, he said.

Asked later by reporters how he knew this, Coleman said he has been briefed by organized crime agencies and police in the province, the United States and other countries.

1. It's interesting that a trade guy wants to eliminate the means
for someone to defend their self.

2. Reefer madness gone awry
Because all the pot-growing hippies in the Gulf Islands are really part of an organized crime syndicate hoping for the downfall of the United States.

Or maybe they're just hippies...

You know, heroin, I could understand as being a revenue source for Afghan insurgents, but BC pot? Not on your life.

3. This is stupid beyond belief
And, as usual there is no evidence to back up this extraordinary claim.

I seem to recall the B.C. Liberals (which are actually the right wing party in B.C.) had a spot of scandal a week or two ago where a well connected party organizer and aid to a cabinet minister was said to have been implicated in a drug related police investigation. So, this bit of pious drug related moralizing is probably meant to counteract the taint of scandal.

5. This is baloney. They grow their own.
They have their own hashish production there, not to mention the opium business. Why would Afghani's want any bud that Canada produces when they produce some of the most potent bud and hashish in the world?

7. I'm sure their #1 Cash Crop..
Opium, has nothing to do with this. Of course it is the evil north american marijuana trade, somehow run by Afghan warlords (who are also taxpayer funded), that fuels the instability of the region. Fucking sleazy-ass lying liars.

8. I can see what he is saying - but need proof - it's a bad article
British Columbia has a large Persian crime community. I could see some of them growing bud and sending the money to buy guns. But at the same time, much of the dope growning in B.C. is controlled by biker gangs.

EIther way I don't believe for a second that guns are being smuggled through Canadian ports...a gun is probably the hardest thing to smuggle in to Canada.

My above theory isn't bad....but this guy doesn't expand on it...I have to give his story and F.

9. Board of Trade is Liberal Country!!
Spin control...

"...The search of government offices was the result of information gathered during a 20-month investigation into allegedly massive cross-border drug deals involving an exchange of B.C. marijuana for U.S. cocaine, police say.

The RCMP has kept the government at arms length and has not made any clear connections between the drug investigation and the raid on the offices.

“The RCMP have been very clear that this does not involve any elected officials. It does not involve activities of government,” Mr. Campbell said."

Funny no hits on CBC...

BUT then again Rich Coleman took over from Carole Taylor, former alderman, former mayor Art Phillips plaything/wife as head of the Vancouver Board of Trade...she is NOW head of the CBC.

I hope Paul can keep his troops in line--God only knows where this one is going with the shocking revelation that POT provided by Liberal bagmen is being used to kill Canadian soldiers in AF

Oh here's a CBC link

10. "been briefed" , so he don't really KNOW anything, just been *- "told"
.
.

and that "group" includes "the United States "

And I'd have a tendency to believe a convicted criminal rather than anything under the umbrella of the United States "intelligence"!

Remember, I said CONVICTED, so the the BFEE don't fit in that category, . .

BUT - it's a good Advertisement for BC BUD !!

 . . . . . . . . . . . .

12. Gee, I guess Our President was right...
...if you smoke dope, you are helping terraists!

:eyes:

I have only four questions:

1) Can Ashcroft now lock up drug possessors as "enemy combatants?"

2) Does that mean we'll be declaring "pre-emptive" war on British Columbia as part of the War on Terror?

3) If we attack British Columbia, won't we also have to go to war against Quebec? After all, they're in league with B.C....and they speak French, if you know what I mean.

4) If the administration announces their plans for military action against Canada, will John Kerry vote to give Bush a "blank-check" authorization yet again?
