AP 1/31 Wolfowitz says Iraq war justified because Saddam ignored
Edited on Sat Jan-31-04 01:37 PM by grasswire
Mods: I'm posting this because the news is that Wolfowitz is STILL REPEATING THIS SAME GODDAM LIE.

Wolfowitz says Iraq war justified because Saddam ignored U.N. demands

AP Germany

The United States was justified in going to war against Iraq because Saddam Hussein violated U.N. resolutions ordering him to disarm, the Pentagon's second-in-command said Saturday.

Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said flawed intelligence about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction should be investigated, but the inability of inspectors to find such weapons did not mean the war was unnecessary.

How the hell can he say this when OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE NO WEAPONS????

1. So let's get this straight:
Iraq was defying th UN by not coming clean on their massive stockpiles of unconventional weapons.

They had no weapons to come clean on.

All current and former members of PNAC should be put on a rocket and launched into the sun.

12. Yeah, why pick on the sun?
I mean, why pollute the sun with PNAC remains? I'd say launch them into deep space, but who knows what price we'd pay for polluting the universe? I don't know that you could just throw them away, it would really require some type of hazardous waste treatment...

35. Wolfowitz is ULTRA right wing,...
,...as he has unconsciously become what he most fears,...another form of nazi except his target is not merely a "race", it is anyone who disagrees with his "hellish" perspective of the world. Wolfowitz is a very, very sick cookie. They are all very, very sick people at the front of this new millenneum. I suppose it is better we have them exposed at the beginning, than somewhere in the middle or end :D

42. a CHICKENHAWK Bastard

Name: Paul Wolfowitz
Born: 1943
Employer: The U.S. Taxpayer
Conflict Avoided: Vietnam
Notes: Deputy Secretary for Defense - yet another Bush administration man in the Pentagon who has no idea what it's like to wear a uniform. He got a BA at Cornell in 1965. Maybe if we'd had a guy as bright as he thinks he is in Vietnam, it would have turned out differently

5. Orwellian
It is so Orwellian.

Hey, I'm sick too of all the references these days to George Orwell and '1984'. But it is so accurate ... you have to use the analogies.

In this case, Wolfowitz mentions the UN, but Hans Blix and UNMOVIC have been incinerated in the 'memory hole' ... the UN weapons inspectors have historically ceased to exist for the Bush regime apologists.

Please read the commentary: 'This You Must Remember'
http://www.earthside.com/remember.html

The FACT that the UN inspectors were there on the ground in Iraq means tht the best available intelligence/information at the time was that Saddam did not have WMD. But Bush purposefully ignored this FACT and ordered the attack. That makes him an undisputed liar ... and frankly, a murderer.

By opening his mouth and regurgitating words.

He does it as easily as other members of the junta lie about the justifcations for the invasion.

20. And you are forgetting
That Iraq filed (what was it?) 12,000 pages saying that it didn't have any weapons. And the Bushbots deleted something like 6000 of those pages.

He didn't defy the UN..he filed a document which turns out to be the truth!

24. Could not all wars started in the 20th century be justified by the same
reasons claimed by the neocons? Could not any stronger nation always justify crushing a weaker nation using their criteria? Couldn't we attack almost any other nation on the face of the earth using the reasons they have given?

31. 20th century?
You can find all the same war rhetoric in "Gaellic Wars" by
Julius Caesar. And he stakes no claim to having invented it
either. It is truly astounding how little did changed over the
last 2500 years. A literary character from "Thin Red Line"
summed it all up best: "Property, it's all about property".
