September 11 attacks might have been prevented, commission finds
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The September 11, 2001, terror attacks might have been prevented had US security services shared and acted upon information they had at the time, according to a congressional report.

The report, which took nine months to complete after nearly two dozen hearings, also suggested Saudi Arabia may have played a role in the devastating terror assault nearly two years ago.

The report concluded that there was no "smoking gun" -- no single source of information which might have allowed US authorities to uncover and prevent the attacks, which killed more than 3,000, leveled one symbol of US economic prowess -- the World Trade Towers in New York -- and severely damaged the Pentagon (news - web sites).

Nevertheless, with proper cooperation among various US agencies and better intelligence, law enforcement officials might have prevented the attacks, said Senator Bob Graham at a packed news conference attended by relatives of the terror attacks' victims.

"The report makes clear that we should have known potential terrorists were living among us."

1. There was at least enough information known to notify New York City

on 9/11 after the first plane hit so that inhabitants of the other tower would NOT be told it was safe to return. Millions on a report that does not state the obvious just pisses me off. The Bush administration is AT LEAST personally responsible for the deaths of everyone that was cleared to return to that second tower, including emergency personnel who perished in it.

8. Not to mention the Pentagon
There was plenty of time to intercept the plane that hit the Pentagon.
While Bush sat there in the classroom looking like he didn't know what the Hell was going on.

2. "the smoking gun"
Just because the Bushies didn't receive an engraved announcement
doesn't mean there weren't plenty of warnings.

This administration just doesn't take any responsiblity.

3. Will Bush be inviting more terrorists to his ranch for BBQ next vacation?
From the above link:

President George W. Bush (news - web sites) issued a statement welcoming the report, saying his administration has, since the attacks, "transformed our government to pursue terrorists and prevent terrorist attacks

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (CNN) -- Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Abdullah, architect of a much-touted Middle East peace plan, accepted an invitation to visit President Bush at his Texas ranch, Saudi officials said Sunday

oh and this:

The President: Good afternoon. I was honored to welcome Crown Prince Abdallah to my ranch, a place that is very special for me, and a place where I welcome special guests to our country. The Crown Prince and I had a very cordial meeting that confirmed the strong relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

Those "special" guests help fund terrorists and they were "special guests" at your "special place" in Crawford

Makes me sick!@

5. Ugh
"Officials in Washington said a vast section of the report -- some 28 pages -- had been excised to "protect a foreign government," without specifically naming Saudi Arabia."

We're protecting a foreign government on this? Why??

4. One of the hijackers,
who was on the FBI wanted for terrorism list was listed in the San Diego phone book, under his real name, right up to 9/11.
The CIA spends $40 billion a year and can't do an infospace search?

7. In other words ...
There wasn't only ONE source saying exactly what was going to happen when and where?

There were lots & lots of warnings and clues!

Come on! If the single source could be found, they'd say "It was only one piece of evidence that could not be confirmed."

So many questions ... no real answers.

9. i am starting to believe
that Bushinc knew attacks were coming, wanted them to occur, but never expected that to be that devastating. Connecting the dots, i think the energy crisis in California, plans to attack Iraq, buying the media (through the promise of consolidation), punishing dissent were preplanned all along - after the Supreme Court gave the Presidency to Shrub.
