Bush Hits New Low: Ties Carter Approval (ABC News Poll - 28%)
Source: ABC News

28 Percent of Americans Approve of How President Bush is Handling Job

Driven down by the weak economy and the unpopular war in Iraq, President George W. Bush's job approval rating has reached a new low for the third month straight.

Just 28 percent of Americans approve of how the President is handling his job, matching Jimmy Carter's career low.

Only two presidents have gone lower: Richard Nixon, 24 percent in July and August 1974; and Harry Truman, 22 percent in February 1952.

Bush Hits New Low in Record High Disapproval

Sixty-nine percent disapprove of Bush's performance, a record high in presidential approval polls since 1938 (by ABC News to 1981, and Gallup before us). Fifty-six percent "strongly" disapprove of Bush's performance, another record.

This reads like it's a new low, but I thought he was down in the low twenties a few months ago.

4. The old tired meme that there have been no more attacks..
on U.S. soil since 9/11 (anthrax doesn't count to those numb skulls).

I guess that's how low the bar is. If there haven't been any mass killings of citizens on U.S. soil by foreign terrorists we're doing just fine...:banghead:

7. Oddly enough...
Fox News reported he'd hit 28% a couple of weeks ago.

Go figure.

I guess each and every "news" service is going to report it as it happens on their own pet polling organization.

6. I had the misfortune to spend several days with some of the 28%
They don't really think much of *, but "he's better than having a Democrat in the White House".

Ignorant doesn't even begin to describe their mindset.

19. Let me be VERY FRANK: I believe the bush* approval numbers are fudged.
Yep, I believe his approval rating is actually lower than reported, as is the unemployment rate and the overall satisfaction with the course the country is heading. I also believe the MSM is deliberately stalling on producing a competent, unbiased poll concerning impeachment for both bush* and cheney*.

11. I sat at dinner with a 28 %er last night. "Wikipedia is all lies". "Climate change is BS".
"why are you going to vote for a muslim". etc....ad infinitum. This is a smart fellow, college grad - but hard core Catholic - 9 children, take every word spoken from the pulpit as the truth, Bush keeps us safe, etc. I just don't understand the thought processes of these people. My daugther thought that the problem is that he is severely repressed!

13. They do get much of that propaganda from the church..
I see now where the Pope is faced with the task of convincing these people that climate change is NOT b.s. I'm sure this will briefly confuse them if they stop to think for themselves for a nanosecond.

is that J Carter was and is a decent honest man who got crushed for telling the truth. He was way ahead of the curve on energy, wasn't he?
