Schwarzenegger backtracks on McCain, environment
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" and defended GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain as "the real deal on the environment." The governor made his comments only days after he said the Arizona senator's call for lifting the federal ban on offshore oil drilling was "blowing smoke."

"I'm very proud of him. I'm 100 percent behind him," he told "Meet the Presss" moderator Tom Brokaw in an interview done earlier last week at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley.

Schwarzenegger's warm words and defense of McCain on environmental issues appeared at odds to his comments Friday at a climate change meeting in Florida, where he delivered a jab at McCain's environmental plans. Citing a list of proposals, including ending the ban on offshore oil drilling, nuclear power and biofuels - McCain supports them all - he told the audience "anyone who tells you that this will bring down our gas prices immediately or anytime soon is blowing smoke."

1. He got a phone call from somebody.
Probably KKKarl Rove, McLame's "unofficial" adviser.

3. The headline seems chronologically incorrect. . .
The article says the MTP interview was done "earlier last week" in California, while Schwarzenegger's criticism of McCain was delivered on Friday at a conference in Florida.

So which came first?

10. Yes, "in an interview done earlier last week at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley". . .
So his support of McCain, as shown in a tape on Sunday's "Meet the Press,' dates from earlier last week, while his criticism was delivered at the end of the week in the conference in Florida.

So I'll ask again -- in hopes you'll read the article -- which came first?

14. Sorry ... I missed that ... my mouth was acting like it wanted to puke
when I read that part so I went to the next paragraph. I'm guessing or ass-uming the writer of the article is saying Tues. Swartzy was for him, then Friday he was against him.

4. republicans never lose a vote by
lying out of both sides of their mouth at once. Their supporters expect them to. They can flip-flop and say whatever they think is needed to win and their voters think they are smart for doing so.

15. Not yet.
He has a group who back him working in the shadows to get an amendment passed to our Constitution so he can run. However, I hope it backfires on him. There are many of us who are born Americans but born in a foreign country of American parents who can't run for President. I hope if this amendment is ever passed that every person barred from the Presidency runs against him if he tries to run.

20. Actually, you can run for President if you want to
The actual requirement is that you are a natural-born citizen. As the offspring of American parents, you qualify no matter where you were born. Arnold, however, does not.

And the chances of an Amendment being ratified to change that requirement are slim to none, given the amount of racism and xenophobia in this country.

13. LOL!
So much for the Arnold is really liberal crowd, and that he's secretly backing Obama. Arnold knows when it is politically safe for him to pretend to be a liberal. He is very much a part of the neo-con corporatist, Republican Party in reality. He is no better than Bush and McBush.
