'Obama' Hate Messages, Graffiti Cover 60 Orlando City Vehicles
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 09:41 AM by Fluffdaddy
Source: ORLANDO, Fla. local news channel six

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Vandals spray-painted "Obama Smokes Crack" and other hate messages on 60 city vehicles parked across the street from City Hall in downtown Orlando.

Investigators said the vandals painted the messages -- which appear to be politically motivated -- after dark Saturday night.

Local 6 showed several vehicles covered in different colors with the "Obama" messages.

A passing motorist initially spotted the damage and called police.

"I'm driving by and every car I see has been hit with spray paint," witness Mike Lowe said. "There is so much damage to them. There are messages written on them and the vandals left their business card, which is crazy."

Special business cards left near the damaged vehicles contained negative messages about Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain. However, there were positive words about Sen. Hillary Clinton, Local 6's Kimberly Houk reported.

Some of the vehicles also had opened gas tanks.

Orlando police are investigating the incident and the business cards left at the scene.

5. Nah. It's a little more simplistic than that.
There are a lot of our high-school-age people who have been totally and completely indoctrinated into an extremely far-right mindset. From what I can see, it is caused by a mixture of right-wing DJ's on the "morning zoo" types of programs, some O'Reilly(who they seem to listen to), definitely Savage, who they listen to and quote chapter and verse and use dog-whistle racism in their invective, and peer pressure that grows the mindset in a cross-pollenating fashion. You also have racist and/or skinhead groups that are quite resurgent and every kid wants to be part of a group.

For some of them, it is all they have known for the last 8 years. It has just been the way things are and they way things are supposed to be. Without any thought of question. These are some of the most intolerent, racist, violence-loving people I have ever seen. Thouroughly indoctrinated and each one trying to outdo the other. There is going to be some big problems with them. They are totally and completely incapable of recognizing any of the challenges facing this nation. They are completely wedded to a status quo that doesn't exist, except in the minds of the right-wing squawkers that fill their heads with an agenda that runs directly counter to their own best interests. They support a militaristic, violent and authoritarian government. They consider it just peachy to go to war with any country that has oil, to make it ours.

They are well worth NOT ignoring.

13. Nicely said, TS
It could be that the election of Obama will actually spark the civil war that's been simmering ever since Limpballs, Hannity, Weiner, and their ilk took over the airwaves. Some of them, like Weiner, openly advocate for violence. If/when this finally blows, I hope:

1. Our side is ready. There is a tendency, I think, to believe that all of hate radio listeners are like the hosts - devout cowards who curl up in a ball or head for a gated neighborhood as soon as trouble starts. witness Limpballs' behavior after his disciple Tim McVeigh killed a bunch of innocents. But many hate radio listeners are like McVeigh, and will actually be ready to rumble when the time comes. Luckily we outnumber them by 1000:1 or so, but we still need to beware.

2. These vandals and others like them aren't deluded enough to think that their "heroes" like O'Reilly and Hannity and Ingram and Limpballs and Weiner and Gallagher and Coulter and Liddy and Buchanan and Morgan Medved and Malkin and all the local "morning zoo" hosts are going to stand with them when the going gets tough.

I hope that Obamans can marginalize these people though progress, positivity, and the Constitution, but we need to have a plan in case it doesn't work.

33. To put a finer point on it
They support a militaristic, violent and authoritarian government. They consider it just peachy to go to war with any country that has oil, to make it ours.

...so long as someone else is doing the actual bleeding, hurting and dying. Right-wing types never dirty their own hands when it comes to actual work. Never have, never will. This strikes me as another typical right-wing operation -- underhandedness under the cover of darkness. Sociopaths, liars, and worst of all, cowards.

What these little thugs fail to realize is that since the dawn of human history, types like them have been used to promote tyrants who will never ever let them have the crumbs from the table they help to set up.

77. You're right, the right doesn't need to "organize" this stuff
There brainwashed nasties devise and carry out their own crap, just like the pro-fetus loonies that bomb medical centers because some women might be having an abortion. They just get the ideas flowing that it's honorable to stop the enemy at any cost and the wing nuts take care of the rest.

In '04 there was talk on line and in the news about people tampering with voter registration and we had to young guys taking registrations downtown that never got filed any where. The stupid thing is that we have registration at the polls so it didn't work as well as it did for the jerks that did it in Nevada.

Whoever did it must be a real sick individual. But what kind of right winger would leave business cards saying "legalize marajuana" and "stop building prisons"? To my best knowledge I don't think a right winger had anything to do with it if they left those messages.

46. Funny thing about video tapes,
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 02:22 PM by SimpleTrend
when they show "the wrong people" (those in power) doing something illegal, they tend to disappear or have a "malfunction". If the tapes don't disappear, then I'd guess that it wasn't those in power doing the deed.

Consequently, the only way for surveillance video, those showing public spaces, to be equitable is for everyone to have access to the cameras, such as through the Internet, in an open-source type of model.

Nobody's discussing that.

It's very Big Brother. George Orwell was amazingly far-thinking.

I'm already sick to death of the new Tollway "big brother" cameras here in Chicago.

Their excuse for putting them up was to monitor the traffic during the construction period, but of course they'll stay up long after that.

12. The city is Democratic like most large cities.
But the areas surrounding the city is like the panhandle. Republican.

The Billboards are on the "Ronald Reagan Turnpike" going South to Orlando. My wife and I drive down twice a year and are greeted by billboards featuring imagery of Orlando attractions and dead babies.

They don't always have the imagery. Sometimes they're just pro-life slogans. But they've been along the turnpike at least since the early ninties.

30. They aren't really Hillary supporters
they are right wing trolls trying to stir shit up. Two of the leaders were interviewed on Fox. One second, the guy says he has always voted for the Democratic ticket. Not 30 seconds later he said he didn't want the DNC to do to him what the RNC did to him in 2000 (support the "wrong" candidate). He couldn't keep the facade up for a 5 minute interview.

The ones who did this vandalism are RW trolls, too. They want democrats at each others throats.

The right wing has long labeled Hillary as a "bitch". They want to drive this message home by making it appear that her supporters are just like what they think she is. They want us divided, because that is the only way McSame can make it into office. Are there some bitter supporters out there? I am sure there are, but nowhere near as many as is portrayed by MSM. Would they want to sabotage an election? Really don't think so.

22. My theory
Spray-painting vandals tend to be younger, and male - not what you'd expect the typical bitter Hillary supporter to be. The Hillary angle is probably an attempt to throw off authorities or to foster divisiveness. My bet is that the perpetrators are youngish, white, male racists - neo-nazi's, skinheads, or extreme RW bible-thumpers. JMO, of course. If the business cards were printed at a printing shop (rather than a PC), these guys should be fairly easy to track down. And if this was a city parking facility, there may be surveillence video that hasn't been mentioned yet.

Step 3) Step back and watch the national media breathlessly report this "late breaking exclusive scoop!!!!!!!!!!"

48. The article clearly states that BOTH Obama AND McCain were targeted...
Yet the headline omits McCain's name and leads one to believe that Obama was the sole target.

Fuck, I wouldn't be surprised if it were WKMG themselves!

Yaaay... somebody agrees with my theory!

Paul brings out the worst in some people. Him and Alex Jones got one of my friends. Little too paranoid if you ask me.

some sort of GOP dirty trick to try to further the Democratic divide.

But when I went to the hillary forum.net site, I found this comment in the thread about the vandalism:
The business cards tell us all we need to know: Hillary supporters would not put down John McCain! <emphasis added>This is clearly Obama's camp trying get the victim card.
That comment really bothers me, because it shows that at least some Hillary supporters still think John McCain is a white knight who deserves their active support, rather than the reactionary misogynistic jerk he really is.

54. Dirty tricks to divide Democrats
The business cards were there to emphasize the attempt at divisiveness, and were clearly not provided by teenagers, even if teenagers were the ones who performed the crime.

It takes an act of god to get a teenage boy to bring a pencil to school; I just can't see them showing the initiative to print out business cards beforehand.

At least, that's my conjecture.

They would tend to be middle aged women, and this is not their style.

76. which appear to be politically motivated - too funny
not the damage the fact that the news can't seem to just admit it's politically motivated.

this is two in one hit. Nasty about Obama and trying to blame it on Clinton supporters. Not only does it give out bad messages about Obama it also attempts to divide an conquer the democrats - sadly, both of which will work to some extent.
