Shiite cleric Sadr authorizes setting up "resistance cells"-Sadrist
Source: Voice of Iraq

Baghdad, Jun 13, (VOI)- The anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr on Friday expressed intention to authorize setting up "cells to resist the occupation", head of the political bureau of Sadr's Movement said.

"The declaration by Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr to form cells to resist the occupation comes in full conformity with the approach of the Sadrists," Sheikh Liwa Semaysam told Aswat al-Iraq- Voices of Iraq- (VOI) on the phone.

The key Sadrist leader added that these cells will "have a written authorization by Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr to carry out their task, on the condition that arms will only be in their hands for use against the occupier and none else."
Sheikh Semaysam, a close aide of Sadr, provided no further details.

1. Starting to look like Algeria under French occupation
did anyone see Rachel Maddow yesterday on MSNBC? she was making the correct point that our President and McSame's position to stay in Iraq indefinitely = colonialism. The corporate hacks serving as pundits rejected her idea. Rachel is right, as usual.

2. That's a fact jack. And those hacks don't even know what colonialism is
They probably think that you have to call it colonialism for it to be colonialism.

But I think that this is a very positive development overall. The Iraqi's are united in their hatred for us. Now all we have to do is LEAVE!

5. Yes. There's not enough detailing McCain's earlier position ....
... that *ANY* presence of US forces in Iraq is problematic. Our presence is unwanted, oppresses the population, and taints whatever government is in place.

3. He's been all bluster since 2004.
He capitulated in 2004 to gain a seat at the puppets' table, and since then makes odd noises here and there but is largely compliant.

4. Sadr whipped Maliki in Basra a few months ago
Maliki was trying to take out Sadr to boost his weak political future and he lost and lost badly. The Iranians had to broker the truce.

6. al Sadr is stumping for votes( from Iran )in October. He holds 35 seats and needs to "change"
From the Safaa Hamdani, Press TV, Baghdad video article;
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a97_1213394667

As usual, western MSM cherry picks the "violence" bytes and ignored what the statement "HE WROTE FROM IRAN" truly mentioned that his 'well trained' suicide fighters were being ordered ( by al Sistani ) to stop killing (shia) Iraqi's.And when they do kill fellow Iraqi's, they will be disowned ( denied 71 virgins ? ) statements avoids mentioning killing Sunni and Kurd.....
but anyway,
al Sadr can't beat the Iraqi governments military with the US backing. His new emphasis thats been ignored is on a mahdi army "peace corp" type movement of "teachers" instead of inept Barny Fifes screaming allah ahkbar while they shoot their toes off holstering their weapons during photo shoots. ;)
Going the Gandhi civil disobedience route.

bottom line,
he is stumping for October votes

In October vote
al Sadr

- for change we can all live with

8. Female suicide bomber strikes soccer fans in Iraq ( she didn't get the memo )
Edited on Sat Jun-14-08 07:06 PM by ohio2007
BAGHDAD - A female suicide bomber targeted a crowd of soccer fans celebrating Iraq's win in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, wounding at least 34 people near a cafe north of Baghdad, police said.

The young woman, who was covered in a traditional black Islamic robe, was dropped off by a car shortly before the attack as dozens of cheering young men poured out onto the streets after watching Iraq beat China 2-1 on television in the cafe in the town of Qara Tappah.

The woman told suspicious police that she was waiting for her husband but blew herself up after an officer spotted the detonator and began screaming at the crowd to disperse.....
