N-B-C's Lynch movie will focus on Iraqi rescuer
Los Angeles-AP

N-B-C says its Jessica Lynch T- V movie won't center on Jessica Lynch.

The 20-year-old Army supply clerk isn't participating in the project.

N-B-C has a deal with the Iraqi lawyer who helped her (Mohammed Odeh al-Rehaief). The film is expected to focus on the role he played in Lynch's rescue. The film is also relying on information in the public domain.

Lynch has yet to speak publicly about her experience. She was released this week from a Washington hospital. ---

1. Oh brother, does this mean they're going to try to do the whole
"she was being tortured" thing? Why are they focusing this guy who's story has been shown to be an absolute lie?

2. In a word? Money.
This movie will be a big bill payer for them no matter which angle they take. Playing up the rescue, and the role of the Iraqi in it, they accept absolutely no risk. Telling the truth would be very risky. Addin in the "she was tortured" angle is guarenteed to add dollars instead of removing them.

Who do you think they will get to play Jessi?

3. Yes and Jessie gets nada zip nothing
I'd hope she has enough intergrity to not be involved in such slime.

I could find the article but I think it was the Guardian that quoted and actual nurse at the Iraqi hospital who said that they knew of no one there married to a lawyer, she said they would certainly have known that especially since only a "skeleton crew" was there at the time.

6. I think her getting nothing from this is a good thing.
Maintaining ones integrity is more important than money. Once you abandon the moral high ground, particualrly for something as low as money, you almost never get it back. Thank you no. I'd rather die monitarily broke than morally bankrupt.

4. Let me guess- Typical Hollywood crap
It will be the story of a brave little American hurt in battle and saved by a BRAVE Iraqi who DEFIED everyone around him to save her... Every single Iraqi, other than him and one nurse he confides in will be portrayed as evil American-killers...

Jessica will find out at the end that she was fortunate to meet the SINGLE, ONLY Iraqi not blood-thirsty enough to hurt her.

Oh and I'm sure this Iraqi will have studied in the US where our American 'goodness'/values rubbed off on him.

You can smell the propaganda from her.

Maybe we can get Alicia Silverstone to play Jessica? Britney Spears and make it a musical?

Poor Jessica- may you stay far away from this exploitation!

5. In this version will the repubs give the lawyer a lobbyist job?
and citizenship and healthcare for him and his family? OK, will the docs who actually saved her life be similarly rewarded?

WASHINGTON — The Iraqi lawyer who led U.S. forces to former POW Jessica Lynch (search) has accepted a job offer from Washington lobbying firm The Livingston Group days after the United States granted him asylum.

The company, founded by former U.S. Rep. Bob Livingston, said details on 33-year-old Mohammed Odeh al-Rehaief's (search) new responsibilities were still in the works. A good deal of The Livingston Group's business is international, the company said, and some clients are from Arabic-speaking countries. The company also said al-Rehaief is eager to improve his English, and will take intense language lessons.
