Waco TribuneCrawford, President Bush, Cindy Sheehan and the rest in June 8 local documentary screeningBy WacoTrib.com staff | Saturday, May 31, 2008, 08:14 AM
The Associated Press has an article today about the documentary film 'Crawford,' which will be screened on the football field in the town of the same name next Sunday, June 8, at 8:30 p.m. Austin-based filmmaker David Modigliani’s documentary will chronicle the impact of the President, his entourage, the Secret Service, protesters, the media and others on the Central Texas town. He filmed in Crawford and around the area from 2004 until last fall.
“I wanted to do a film indicting Bush for this political stagecraft, using this town as a prop,” Modigliani said. “But I found something much more compelling, which was the people of Crawford: their stories, their journeys, their arcs. The film became about them.”
The film has already been shown at several film festivals (including South by Southwest) and shown to some local residents who figure prominently in the documentary. Rev. Mike Murphy, pastor of First Baptist Church, is quoted as saying “We’re a diverse community … and we’re all in this together.” … “I think that was portrayed in this film.”
