Baskin-Robbins Co-Founder Dies At Age 90

Irvine Robbins, who as co-founder of Baskin-Robbins brought Rocky Road, Pralines 'n Cream and other exotic ice cream concoctions to every corner of America, has died at age 90.


Robbins had been ill for some time and died Monday at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., said his daughter Marsha Veit.

While the company advertised that it offered 31 flavors, in fact it has created more than 1,000 flavors, according to its Web site.

6. Thank you Mr Robbins....One of my earliest memories is of B-R
My father taking my sister and I to Baskin-Robbins. I chose Bubble Gum Ice Cream, walked outside and licked the scoop right off of the cone and onto the ground. We went back in and got another....I believe at no charge, but would have to confer with the old man. That SAME scenario has repeated itself with my 3 boys and I anticipate the same with my daughter, as soon as she is old enough....which is probably about now...2 in June.
